I own an EL GT and am on a Tickford GT Group. One of the members owned the EB GT that they used against your car. I'm pretty sure it is still in that group too.
From what i can gather, the VP GTS that WHEELS gave away was the Anthracite GTS i mentioned above. It was the colour they used in the Giveaway ad.

It's good to here both cars have survived. I just read the wheels article title recall again and you were right it had the plates SVGTS1 . It also mentioned the auto v auto test at Lang Lang that was to dangerous to finish
