His 30th car "was always going to be a Maloo," he says. That choice was guided by "a comprehensive HSV performance summary in Sept 2017", which confirmed the Maloo GTS R "was the quickest Australian produced production car of all time."
    .

I'm laughing at the "guest of honour" line .... It was just a great 3 hours chewing the fat about old times and the future .... and the GTSR Maloo is a sweet ride ...

I've heard of this issue, but never before encountered an owner whose car was affected by it.
Not a good day?!....Was the rebuild a warranty job & was it ok afterwards?

That's a really cool article they did on you mate, should be very proud.

HSV made some seriously amazing cars, and I for one am very thankful I finally got the chance to own one.

    Cheers.

I stripped the engine down but was moving town so I ended up selling it in pieces. However in the late 90s a mate did the exact same with his SV89 going thru a causeway and bent a rod too. Tony Ireland Holden in Townsville rebuilt it under insurance. $13k from memory. Quite excessive considering it was basically a stock engine

Back on track Carl, the SV89 airbox differed to the SV5000 box .... visually the 89 box has the HSV lion/helmet black and red decal on it but the intake rasp was much more aggressive than the later SV5000 variant ...

    Congrats Graeme,

Awesome HSV history and a fitting way to celebrate the 30th milestone. A nice GTS R Maloo. You are very lucky!!
