I can't see there being an issue with moisture getting under them. It's no different to the way most other trim pieces are stuck on.

Hmmm, I see your points...my mind is now swaying to giving this a shot.

L***press, only one more question - how did your mate fix them to the bonnet? I know sikaflex will work without the need for sanding, what do you think?

I used a small amount of sikaflex

Yeah, I don’t really want to cut the bonnet to be honest. I’m a tradey and confident with a grinder and tools, but would rather avoid it if possible.

Seems like an odd thing to do to me, but each to their own

I just stumbled on this second hand one and thought of you, luckily even in the same colour:

Maybe not in your neck of the woods, or your price range, but a genuine finish and it means you don't have to mess with your original.

I would have to ask him but I’m 99% he used Sikaflex. You just have to sand the bottom of the vent flat. He was saying it was pretty easy.

Thanks Skaifeman, I saw this advertised on eBay for $950 and considered it. But after seeing the gumtree add I called him and getting the fully bonnet/vents/badge for $800 - mint condition. Pack and send do delivery, quoted $300. So for $1100 to my door I cannot complain...cheers!

Now, who needs a heron white vf1 bonnet? Lol

Happy that you got it, and happy to help. As soon as I saw it, this thread tickled my mind.
Good luck offloading the old one.
