Hsv headers and aftermarket (tune required?)

Hi all im looking at an ls3 ve gts manual thats had hpf cam and heads done
It doesnt sound that loud i think it has stock hsv headers

Im wondering if i swap to aftermarket headers would it need re tune??

And how much further power would it have? It currently has 300rwkw

I drove an auto ve gts ls3 that had cam only but headers and 3 inch exhaust and felt more powerfull

any change in airflow in and or out is best to get the tune tweaked to suit, if its had a tune and the LTFT arnt used which most of them disable it then any OL fueling will not be corrected by any changes so if u add more air it just goes leaner, only LTFT carry over to OL for safety the STFT do not

I wonder if tuner would charge full price again being new owner?

Shouldn't do if it's the same tuner as they don't have to do any more work. If they charge for a full tune and you're 100% they did the original work/tune I'd go elsewhere as they're taking you for a ride.

I also wouldn't base the loudness of the exhaust on it having stock or aftermarket headers. Stick your nose down the side of the engine and look for a brand tag or even the shape of them

Its got the receipt in the car

Any idea how much more power headers give over hsv ones?

Just felt like the auto car i drove had more poke and was cam only

If it's a restriction on a head and cam package it may be a fair bit but it seems odd that they'd leave the standard ones on to me.
Did it have the rest of the exhaust on the receipt?

With 300rwkw on an LS3, it would likely be a relatively mild cam, probably more suited to low down torque than outright power.

Best off talking to the shop and see if they can give you any info on the cam or where improvements can be made
