keeping the engine maintained is key to its longevity, i still have stock LS2 with cam/blower 14psi on E85 and its still holding up even with a few 7000rpm touches when the limiter couldnt hold back increased power after mods, had my sump off installing a baffle and it all looks brand new in there, i am waiting for it to pop tho but its strength has surprised me so far

Ok boys. Well ive bit the bullet and am about to buy a full built 408ci stroker motor with a 239/247 cam.

Will i be able to run the stock injectors and fuel pump?? Or will i need to upgrade them??

Pump may be ok, injectors, probably not. Think they're like 33lb on standard pressure... should support about 450rwhp but injector duty cycle will be crazy high. Get some 42 or 60lbers, they're cheap enough.

How will the car be used? I'm asking because that cam is going to be pretty. If in a 408. I'd say will feel pretty flat until 3000rpm-3500rpm. Low 230/low 240 be more useful if it's doing a bit of street.
450rwhp will be a good get with a 408 unless you go crazy big cam

Good point Mick, I'd probably go smaller as well, especially in a manual on the street. I'd prefer a heap of low down torque from the cubes but that's me

My cams not much bigger and the 454 can handle way more cam than a 408 and mine starts getting happy around 2800rpm. Not saying that's a bad thing, the op just has to know how it'll be used.. the 408 wont get much more power than a big ls3 and I'm with you Whitelie, it's the torque that makes the difference.
I'm running 60lb injectors with twin pumps and only just above 50% duty

    Thanks for the reply boys.

The car will be used only once on the weekend.

    These are the specs
    408 stroker ls2
    Ls3 heads
    239/247 114lsa
    Ternd pushrods
    Morel tie bars
    Melling pump
    Pac dual springs
    11.1 comp ratio
And all the other bits and pieces

The cam catalouge shows its active from 2200-7000rpm

Whats the drivability gona be like and what sort of power could i expect from this??
