    Yes you're reducing weight per sq inch but you're also increasing your contact area which is what gives you grip. F1 cars don't have 405's on the back for no reason..

    Let's not forget F1 cars can also "choose" to have whatever weight they want over the rear axle in the form of downforce, you and I are restricted to the weight of the car!
