i remember, it i was at high school dreaming about cars (probably more than girls which seems a bit strange now) i thought it was the bollocks it was so far removed from the run of the mill cars being offered by GM and Ford, it truly was ahead of its time beauty, power, grace and comfort a very upper class car to rival the Europeans. I mean you hear a lot of press about how the VF range were taking an Australian car to European levels, Brock had achieved back in '87 if only he hadn't been taking in by that quack with his crystals,.........

P.S. how good was the touring car racing as well

The racing at that time was great, both HDT and HSV Group A cars were awesome, but this bloody Director thing was, and still is, one of the ugliest cars to ever hit the streets

I realise that, my statement still stands

The Calais was a classy looking car, the director was a dogs breakfast. Nonetheless a truly iconic car

I was one of the biggest Brock fans on the planet - but when the Director
broke cover I thought to myself that that car would have to be the ugliest
thing I have ever seen.....And still to this day feel the same.
Brock was well & truly on drugs at that time - hitting VL's with the biggest
ugly stick on earth, being brain washed & believing in crystals.
Would have to be one of the biggest fails in Australian history............
