    GEN-F Mods

I thought the Gen F would deserve its own "mods" thread . . . I hope to see some interesting data and ideas in this thread and recommendations for suppliers etc etc to from all members - not just VF owners as some of the mods listed will apply to previous HSV's

My first Mod will be the lights . . . without a doubt the thing that annoys me the most about the Gen F visually is the headlights . . . those that are sharp will probably see that HSV have photoshopped less yellow into the headlight beams on many of their images . . . but if you look at "Nitrate's" avatar you will see exactly what the "colour temp" looks like in the real world . . .

    The question is - do I go for 4300k or 5000k??? . . . I must have the OE look and it appears that the DRL's on the Gen F are "whiter" than the E2/3's . . . so I am leaning towards 5000k . . . and do I go 35w or 55w? . . . .

Has anyone done the HID/Xenon thing recently and what's the latest tech in HID . . . . is Digital Ballasts still the latest thing?

Mod number 2 will be the Aerial . . . I haven't done the research yet but based on the E3 R&D . . quality of reception is only gained byusing a quality part and the Honda Aerial worked a treat - many others I tried had dodgy reception in marginal area's . . . I don't think the Honda part will mount as nice on the Holden housing on the VF as it did on the VE so I will be looking long and hard for a good solution. . .

    I feel the end choice will be a 6" (15cm) unit from another brand . . .

Hmmm...interesting re Honda aerial. Where did you get it from, and what model?

Regarding hids, 5000k will still look oem, but have a nice white colour to it. Don't worry about 55w...you'll just get more oncoming motorists flashing you, and you risk more heat buildup.
Ballast are really small these days..the eBay Holden specific ones that replace the cover with one with integrated ballast works great, and very tidy. Not sure if headlight is same in VF though.
You'll need to change parker lights to LEDs too if you want everything to look homogenous.

Cheers for the HID tip . . . it's a couple of years sinse I have done any of this sort of stuff . . .

I'm pretty sure it was a Jazz item, but all Honda's may be the same . . I'll check the 427 later and let you know

Yeah, I'm leaning towards the 5000k but wasn't aware of a Holden Specific kit with replacement rubber boots - yum - can you flick me a link for them please . . I'm too lazy to go on EBay

I've used this guy a few times.

His kits are awesome and the instructions are really easy to follow.....

That's a pretty good piece of tech . . I need to find out if the rear housing on the VF headlight assembly is the sae as VE - I hope so as it would be easy!!

. . . Sadly they do not have 5000k but I will do a bit more research on "colour temp" before I decide!!!
