Forgive me if I offend or i'm going off topic here...

I can kind of understand where you're coming from but it's a bit different in my view. It's Walkinshaw enhanced, not "built by Walkinshaw" or a seperate/rare model like the original Walkinshaw. This is no different from taking your workshop of choice and saying it's (for example) "Actives Enhanced". It's all well and good that places like Walkinshaw, KPM etc offer high performance packages that retain your warranty but IMO make no difference to me in terms of resale value or rarity. It might to some, like yourself (?) but that's just the honest way that I see it. I think it's because nearly everything they offer can be sourced from elsewhere at a cheaper price, generally with better results.

Anyway, back on track... I'm not saying you should randomly pick some numbers out for a cam like the lottery or that you need to understand exactly what will and won't work (although the more information you can take on board the better you will be). I just think that there are a million different camshaft grinds out there and more to the point, much better tuners available in Perth. I would be visiting a few workshops, WP included, and asking what they can offer to suit your requirements (remember peak power isn't everything!).

And I guess a few questions for WP..
Do they custom tune the car or is it a generic tune? If its generic, where does it come from?
Is it possible to get a custom tune, does it cost extra, what results are expected vs the generic one?
If a cam package from X workshop costs the same amount with a custom tune, why does the WP one have a generic tune for the same price?
Keep it Loud, And make me Proud.

I had a fair idea, This is good information.

    Really appreciate it.

Quick Question. With a decent Cam upgrade, will the Stock lifters in an LS2 be ok?

Macca & White Lie have given you some good advice . . . . and I'll throw a couple more things on the table!!! . . . . Both Valve Timing (Cam Timing) and valve springs will have an impact on both the Tunability and Crispness of the overall rev range of your LS2 . . . Ideally I would suggest (and this is only a suggestion) that you wander down to Active and take the RED VZ ute (Cammed LS2) for a spin. . . . and maybe anything else that is currently in the Active Stable!!

There are some good operators in WA that can sort you out . . . as you will have read here elsewhere . . . Eddy Tassone & I are mates . . . but all that aside, if you give him the time to get your car right . . . it will be right!!! . . . take your time to choose your Cam and do your reaserch with someone like Eddy and it'll work out!

I'd also suggest that you get them to run your car up on the Dyno in the first instance to check the status of a few things . . . inc valve train condition so you do it once . . . and do it right. . . as you will find that everyone that tends to not be happy with the work out of a good shop like Active is usually their own worst enemy for short cutting the budget on parts (Springs etc) or TIME . . . take your time!!!

    Hi AOI.

What are you wanting from your cam? Ie do you race your car or is it your daily driver or both? I have a very similar set up to yours and wanting to cam it also after the warranty runs out plus a few other mods that have been recommended by Walkinshaw. However I will be getting someone else to do all the work for the reasons of the previous posts on this topic.

So I will be reading this thread and now checking other forums for advice also.

    Cheers

AOI I agree totally with what your saying. I've had Walkinshaw install my wp230 and had great service. I also posted as such on a walkinshaw bashing thread. I just know a great engine builder that's all.

Are you intending on upgrading the fuel system as well and increasing the boost.

So I guess our goals are the same in respect to the rwhp and block/drivetrain stability. Im very interested in how the cam sounds in yours. When do you think you will have it done?

    Hi danny,
The boost will really depend on the tune that is provided i guess. Keep it as stock as possible. The SS has a double fuel pump system as far as i know. Im told that is adequate. But depends on the tune again. If i raise the boos id say i will be compromising the stock block of the L76.

The Cam will be in in February 2013 as soon as the Warranty runs out. Ill keep you all informed on how it goes.

Lets see how long a stock L76. Drivetrain holds up to the punishment.
