    another new whale

Hey guys, not new to the long wheel based model but this is my first hsv version.

She's a black wh s2 grange that's stock as they come but it's fantastically clean.
not looking at changing much on it because I have always loved the shape and features these cars came with from factory.

But mainly, it has a sunroof

looking forward to get amongst the forum for info and hearing your experiences

Welcome to the pod dude. Get some happy snaps up when you get a chance. Roughly where would you be located?

Twins only a few minor computer upgrades

I was asked for a change over price and the reply was yes! so out with the 11 model and in with the 12
some small computer changes and it seems smoother to drive with 30,000 less kms.
tint and towbar was sorted out by Shacks, I give them 10 out of 10 the same as the Preston dealership.
My second new HSV, I'm very impressed with the standard in the HSV department.

Love that new car smell., I must add, a few strange looks when handing over what looked like a new car
    to the used car staff.

Another vote for Holden and HSV I could have gone BMW, 300, but the quality, room, and power (including what is really a light 1850 kg!) I'll stay with the Grange.
Changes I'd like to see apart from a $5k blower that will not happen. A gallon or two more fuel tank size and a few cms off the A pillar, and yer this is a GMH issue not HSV you can only make so many changes with such small sales numbers
I'm sure the exhaust is louder!! has anyone noted this maybe its a new car thing, I'm getting some great sounds with the standard bi modal setup!!!
    Cheers

Um, silly question...... but I'm sure we all want to know! Why upgrade an 11 model with a 12. Surely you are poring money down the drain for the same thing you had??? Why not wait for the VF when it is just around the corner?????

Hi LS3050 far from a silly question I was asked what I would pay and the answer came back yes, if you look at Shacks Holden adds in the local perth paper they have about 10K off a new R8 and I think GTS, it was a 3/12 build. I did the sums for an 18 month newer car with 30,000 less kms and it worked. Another way of doing the sums was if I kept my car for 5 years then sold I would be paying more per year to update. To my surprise I guess its partly to do with the new book price keeps a near new car up closer to what you can bargin for for a new model. Not many E3 Granges on the market, And yes we all know their are bigger updates than the black wheels to come, HSV have left the two top models as is, I did my deal knowing their is a very small change a nice update may come out at the Sydney motor show.
As for the new car ive gone over it with a fine tooth comb the only thing i had to do was place some silicon on the join below the windscreen platic to stop the engine cover getting covered in water, Holden should sort that out maybe its not so noticeable on the grey cover on the 6L though if at all.
    Cheers andrew
did i mention all the doors/panels are a great fit, harmonic ballancer is no more than 1 mm out and the towbar and tint added up to a very nice change over price. Thank you to Shacks Holden HSV.

Maybe its just sales have slowed a bit this year, but if I can get deals like this I will do the same thing by the end of next year. Shacks Freo has a very nice White Grange with the new 20 inch wheels and a sunroof, I believe it can be purchased as a demo the company boss is driving it its newer that my 3/12 build, the grey HSV bits look good on white
I think he must have had Stewie in mind with this one?
    cheers andrew.
PS only change on the 12 model inside the engine bay is one of the pullies has another section bolted to the front of it, i thought maybe this could be used to drive the auto park motor but i can't see any spare room in the engine bay!

Now I'm looking at what to do for an intake mod, i've noticed i nice change in the 12 model that would help an OTRCAI
I guess the oil cooler that blocked a heap of the intake area, has now been moved down with a couple of other small radiators. thought id add a photot of the odd pulley extention, maybe this will be where an auto steer belt will go very soon?
ive had a look at some other cai systems, one similar to the ford 335 system looks okay but the VCM OTRCAI if the filter is cleaned often enough seems to be the best option for a good intake sound and with a tune much better response.
although now with a new E3 the fuel economy seems better than my 11 model?

PS that bloody water leak onto the rear of the engine cover is not easy to stop, you would never notice it on the caprice with a rounded/silver engine cover.
