Great idea but it would only be good for people with a lot of money!

I would like to see it but doubt it will ever happen
Its taken long enough for an Aussie manufacturer to produce another Turbo 6 so it will a very long time before we see turbo V8s off the production line IMO

I wouldn’t be surprised if HSV did or has already started developing a turbo system for the LS1 or better next Gen V8s, you never know. I think Aus car manufacturers were a little slow getting new ideas and produces out there before but now you never know.
They did come out with the supercharged V6,,,hmmm But I could see insurance companies charging an arm and a leg for those types of vehicles.

Yes because what about the people who can easily afford it? They want a more powerful engine

Well i dont like the turbo much, but i think that if they can bring out a v6 supercharged than why not a v8 supercharged, surely holden have to look at the bigger picture and c that in the next 3 to 5 yrs that something needs to be changed, whether that comes from hsv or not, as the market trend changes so will the customer outlay, only because ford offer the turbo rather than the supercharged. Be choice if u could just walk in to your dealer and ask for the GEN 5 ( by then anyway) ahhhh yes and i would like it supercharged please. Sweet

Id rather see an option like a Lanatti Kit at say 6.6 litre natural aspiration and 450 kw and 700 nm torque all on tap from 3000 rpm would be more fun? :D

and i'm guessing those figures but they are achieving similar in the states

FPV have just released the Typhoon F6 Turbo charged 6 show car, even though its only a show car dont be fouled it will be produced. Times have changed I think turbo is the go now. With the younger generation growing up in the high tech era of computer and turbo charged rice rockets I think that HSV should take a long hard look at its self. I would hope a V6 turbo version for the HSV could be rival for FPV up against the Tyhoon F6.
I still believe in natural aspiration motors, but having the turbo option for all HSV vehicles would be that key that could open new doors for those customers that prefer some kind of rice rocket action.
Think about pulling up to the lights with a (GTS Hurricane 460kw Turbo Quattro) now that should rock the socks of any Nissan or Subaru.

Don't worry, in a couple of years when the GenIV comes to the party, we'll have a bit more fun

Is the next Holden and HSV model cars going to have the new LS2 engines or still the LS1's?
Does anyone know what power increase the GTS is going to get could we see the 320KW coming???

rumour has it the Gen4 motor will be released at thi syrs Sydney Motor Show, the rumour has it that it will be 6.2 litres but i'm not sure, i cant see the next step only being to 320 kw given the 285 kw motor currently available

it is rumoured to be 340 to 350 kw so i guess we wait and see? 8)

I think your right it will be the Gen4 which is also somehow called LS2. Current engines are called Gen3's which is the LS1 motors correct?

the VZ Commodore will retain the Gen3 V8, while getting the HFV6, hopefully with a turbocharged sprorts version. the Gen4, or LS2 will arrive with the VE Commodore, in 2006. Displacements have been said to be; 5.2L, 5.7L, 6.0L and 6.2L. Holden is most likely to use the 5.7, and HSV will use the 6.0/6.2.

also regarding the LS-6: this is the engine used in the Corvette ZO6.
its is highly unlikely that we will see this engine in OZ any time soon, especially because of the impending release of the LS-7, the next gen, based on the LS-2. the new Displacement on Demand system is likely to be featured in the LS-2, which should give it an advantage with fuel consumption

There's an article in auto action about PWR producing supercarger kits for the Gen 3 which will be available as an option on some new HSV cars, Should mean an exciting 2 years coming up
