Wow, if you see my car at the moment you'd shoot me dead :) Better atleast clean the wheels I guess!
Ahhhhhh! I don't want to shoot anyone. Cars get dirty. I just got back from Bendigo and mine was a mess. Ran through the car wash. Now it's clean. Just needs some products......but that's me! That's how I look after my car. Wash yours when you can. You can't wash the bloody things every day so yeah they will be messy for a while from time to time. Mines usually as messy as it gets on Friday arvo after a week driving all over the place. But I wash it on Saturday.....rain or shine just to get the crap off.....but that's just me.
If you roll up tomorrow and your ride is a mess well that's just you. I realize you would have your reasons and I'm not going to go off at you or think any worse of you.
I would stay at home and clean it.......BUT THATS JUST ME!!!!
Knew I should have kept my mouth shut.......but that's just me:lol:

lol, it's cool, you just passionate :D
I spend as much time with my kids as i can instead and i'm trying to prepare the car for the track day day on Sunday at the same time so cleanliness comes second to that unfortunately, and now i have to try and get a second bonnet up to spec, not gonna happen, lol.
If I find a spec of dirt on your car tommorow though, your in trouble :razz::razz:

Stew, sorry to open a can of worms mate. no hard feelings I hope.
I'm sure no one will have any hard feelings 2moro whatsoever. We'll be too busy watchin dirty cars on the rollers:) oh and one concours condition grange of course:p
I just think its best not to put so much emphasis on havin a sparkling clean ride at every single event. circumstances are different for everyone. might end up making some people nervous to show up if you know where im comin from. Anyway, clean or dirty they are gonna put down the same numbers on the rollers so lets get ready to rumble people!!! Pumped, see you all there!
P.S. Stew do you want to borrow my brain/keyboard filter? I've been practicing...

Yeah Im with you Mr Nurburg, the amount of tough hours I do at work and the weird ar$e times of the day I work, I gotta spend any time I can with the kids too!
Hence tonight I now gotta be lookin after them instead of buffin my car up like 1st planned....shit happens and it sucks but they come before any HSV!
Friends and family usually see my ride when I personally think its dirty and think its immaculate but I (and any of you guys) would know its not 100% up to spec!
Thats about how it will be tomorrow, would still turn heads driving down the road but look real close as you would at a car show and you will pic bits that are grimey...
It ALWAYS gets washed on my days off, which start monday arvo when I wake up after Night shift...until then it is how it is
I'll be there early get dynoed and nick off to work.... I dont wanna be a disgrace to anyone elses ride in any case.

[QUOTE=HSVE01;37689]......I just think its best not to put so much emphasis on havin a sparkling clean ride at every single event...../QUOTE]
I know what you mean.....suppose I've just been spoilt by having rolled up to every event so far with every other ride clean. Not that it was insisted on or anything like that.....just that all the rides were clean and polished. Except of course for Miss GTO's enginge bay on one cruise but I ain't going there.......
Am I wrong in thinking that at car meetings, regardless of make or model, people justnaturally roll up with clean cars? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I just think it's one of those unwritten expectations. Am I wrong? Has every other car meet I've seen got it wrong?
As for scaring anyone off.....if they don't roll up 'coz of what I've said then that's their decision....haven't made any rules....haven't said don't come not welcome. Sh!t I didn't even organise the day, Go Sick did.
But if someone gets scared off then so be it. One less dirty ride parked next to mine I suppose.
Funny though, everyone says such positive things about peoples clean rides when they post pics up. Always says how awsome it would look if it was cleaner if it ain't too.
Is it just me? Am I going mad? Z man, HRDHSV, Audi, BlckR8, Karstomz, Miss GTO, Go Sick, Krisiun, the rest of you lot.....weigh in any time.

Dead right mate, there will be NO hard feelings. I am very excited :D about actually being able to go to one of these events!!! I have missed so many due to shift work, but thats where I choose to work etc...
So... for me the few specs of dirt that are on the car should NOT discourage me or any HSV enthusiast from attending (a proper car show would certainly be different of course) and interacting with a great group of fellow HSV owners  ...it is 97.5% clean and considering as soon as lunchtime comes around I have to scurry off to work anyway (and be there till 5am) I reckon Im puttin a pretty fair effort in any case just being there IMO..but as Stewie said maybe thats just me  :D
A QUICK EDIT...My engine bay IS perfect though from last weeks major detail session! :-)

And I agree with what you say. I'm not the boss here. Just saying how I feel and what I would do. Richo can roll up how he wants.....that's his concern. Won't mean I won't talk to the bloke or anything like that.
I just think....emphasis on think, that it looks so much better if all the rides are shiny. And it is about showing off otherwise we wouldn't ever clean our cars. Hell I look at a gleaming ricer or ford and think wow that looks nice, dude must love his car as much as I do mine, respect. I see a filthy car and think sh!t box.....regardless of what it is 'coz if it's like that on the outside it's gunna be like that on the inside and it just goes to show how little the car is gettng looked after......hence a sh!t box.
I do appreciate cars get dirty so I'm mindfull of that, hell I've even posted pics of my ride showing the filth on the car bra after a long out of town trip. But the next day, anyone who saw my ride only saw it shiny clean.
Didn't mean to come across harsh, just saying what I think that's all.
So if i turn up in me navara tomorrow stewie, do you expect it to be clean???

05-14-2010, 08:38 PM
Edit: this is to Stew... nah mate I fully agree it is kind of an unwritten law that you roll up clean. especially when on a cruise type event where the public are involved by default.
just its an each to there own thing at the end of the day is all im sayin. I don't do it cos its quietly expected of me. I do it for myself and my own pride in my ride. Not to show off either im not into that, its purely for me. And to a lesser extent to represent the HSV 'brand'(when out and about). So yeah I do see your point mate. I did appreciate that all involved with the C4P cruise were like minded and rolled up sparkling, including me. It does instill a sense of pride when out in public. Lets drop it people and get on with the task at hand yes???

And I get that too Richo. "car looks great" and I'm like "but it's filthy". In that condition I got no dramas. Still turning heads is what it's about. But I'm talking about rolling up FILTHY. Pig ugly hasn't been washed in a month or just driven across the state though rain and up dirt roads. That's when I'm saying stay home or at least run the bloody thing through a car wash. Don't have to have it buffed and waxed.....nice if you (and I mean you as in generally everyone, not just you Richo) could....sweet if you can't 'coz of family or time constraints. Just have it at least car wash clean.
And you won't disgrace me at all Richo....don't care. Hang for as long as you want. Park next to me.....make mine look even cleaner:l::lol:
if your rolling up like you have said well......that ain't filthy in my book......well is is 'coz sounds like you and me think a little dirty is filthy......but that's not the type of fithly car I was alluding to in the first place.

No stress Brother....Oh my cars are never FILTHY....never, ever I love my cars spotless as much as anyone, we dont eat in mine or anything.
But tonight I look at it as it sits in the garage... and I go well I could clean up the calipers a bit, or get that bit of brake dust off the rims...or maybe get rid of those last dots of tyre shine off the guards 100%, thats what Im talkin about when I say Filthy, its the cleanest car in the street but for me not SHOW ready type condition! The missus is out I have the 2 young kids to look after and I cant do better tonight!
Oh... :x and there is some little specs on my carpet of dust too .
But im with you guys too to be honest, I hate any grime on cars especially at a cruise or anythin but I ran out of time to get my products out to buff and wax it, take the rims off and go the hog before tomorrows Dyno day due to other commitments. Even more so cause its gonna be left out in the weather all night at work for the next 2 nights anyway which kills me! And I figured its "OK" for a Dyno day thats all.... no stress, no hard feelings, wrapped I can make an event in amongst life and work...thats all!
Looking forward to it a smuch as ever, and Stewie Im bringing my magnifying glass to give the whale a once over , and some gloves for that cavity search too! you really deserve it now....instead of my group hug to ya!

Dear Members
My name is Ron Polonski my company HORSPWR Industries owns and supports the HSVforum.com.au for over 7 years now.
Iam blown away at the response to this dyno day event that has been organised by (go_sick)..
Unfortunately I have private business tomorrow that I was not able to shift had been organised long time ago so I will not be able to make it this time.
BUT HORSPWR Industries obviously would like to sponsor and support this event tomorrow and in the future SO!
HORSPWR Industries is giving away a shit load of t-shirts and polos to the winners and runner ups. If you decide on extra categories just post all categories and winners up on the forum and we will award those members accordingly.
The winners will be awarded generously. So please can (go_sick) or anyone reading this post just mention HORSPWR Industries giving away t-shirts and polos to the winners and runners up please that would be great. Sorry for the late post just been very busy with the business.
Anyway good luck to everyone tomorrow again thanks Horsepower Factory for giving everyone the chance to give a little stick tomorrow hope to do this one day soon again.
Please remember to upload all results winners and runner ups so I can send the clothing to the right people.
go_sick you could collect all names and addresses of winners and PM them my way and also sizes they wear or members can PM those details personally what ever works for you all.
Again my apologies for the late entrance time got to me forgot all about this weekend time flys!!..
Regards

I know its good to have a clean car there and its an unwritten law/rule but thats up to the individual. At the end of the day we are all there for the same reason. To have some fun and have some laughs. Yes we all have a nice car at the end of the day and who cares what model you have, new or old they are unique in there own right.
I'm just glad to have fallen in a great crowd of enthusiasts that all like the same things. And have such a great attitudes. It has to be one of the best clubs I have been in. And car clean or not, who cares. If I get a photo of the car I will fix it up so your car will look clean ;) And I am aiming to get pics of everyones car.

gettin angry now ...a mate reckons a 285 stock VY Clubby would only get about 180KW at wheels.....surely it would have to be over 200, maybe 210??? wouldnt it??
Would of thought 180 for an SS or somethin?

nah, he's a chronic tosser it'll be good for about 225RWKW depending on weather, condition of your car, and if it's a auto or manual

yeah I was working on my manual loosing about 25% through drivetrain roughly...would that be about right?? That would be around 210-213 RWKilla wasps.
So long as I get 200+ I guess!

well i know a stock VY 1 clubby manual is about 210RWKW coz my miss' has one and thats what it put out stock but that was on C&A autofashions dyno and im not to sure how different the figures are between C&A's and HPF's but going off C&A's you'll probably put out over 220RWKW but many factors come into it.
And for your info it's "MENT" to be 15% loss through a manual somewhere between 20-25% for an auto.
But Factory firgures arnt exactly what they say they are alot of the time, for example the 195 vt engine actully put out the same 220 kw the holden 5.7 stroker engine did but hsv couldnt market as 220 with a 5.7 putting out the same could they :P 5.7 was still faster due to more torque tho...

Cool, would be happy at that figure...I guess we will see.
Do they just chuck it in 3rd or 4th gear with a manual or somethin and scream it out???
