Head Unit Dead

Hi All,

I’ve upgraded all the speakers, Subs and Amp,in my VE Clubsport and now the CD player has packed it in, I spoke to Holden and they have informed me that it’s not covered by warranty as the system it has been modified.

I told them I’ve only changed the speakers etc , they said to bad. I have written to HSV still waiting on a reply.

Does anyone know if the CD part of the system can be replaced/repaired or is it worth it, or would I be better off putting in a separate Alpine Head Unit, and how hard is that to hook up?

I think (stand to be corrected) the HU is actual part of the loom.
Aftermarket units need major re-wiring of the electronics to even start, An audio shop I was in recently was talking about installing a ghost unit to mimic the HU if I was serious about changing the stereo. It all sounded very difficult.

Ok, just a quick update.

Finally got the CD unit repaired, cost $400.00 along with a 12 month warranty. Holden wanted $850 plus installation.
Had it repaired at Supertech Electronics on the Gold Coast they have a fixed cost repair.
