So you were the one who lost his keys for the rest of the day?

Nope.......

We were out there testing some Police SS Commodores. I am Ops Manager fitting in car video systems (dash cams) and we asked GMH if we could use their facilities to test vibration issues. Used the very rough cobblestone track and drove across it at about 60 km/h. But of course we needed to run the 5 k oval and 4. something test roads. Mate I had an absolute ball!! They (GMH) were absolutely fantastic and helped us in any way they could. We even got driven around and given the royal guided tour of the place. To say there is a lot of wild life in the bush there is an understatement. If you ever get a chance, just do it! Next time we do I WILL be taking my car along.:cool:

Not sure about that, but I think that as long as you've got a genuine plated HDT or HSV vehicle, you'd be OK...you can communicate with the Club via their website.

Join up ERASER, and the rest of you. It costs bugger all and yoou get a cap, a key ring, a sticker, a glossy covered mag and access to some wicked discounts and freebies. Example one tuner will give you a team jacket with a tune. If you display at the Melbourne F1 you get two, yes two event passes......worth a bucket load more than the membership for parking your ride on a bit of grass for a couple of days, not to mention the racing. Extremely happy with the value for money aspect of being a member. :D

It is indeed a great Club....I've been a member for 24 yrs, & am now a life member. We've met some great people, made life long friends, and the social side is really good. Club Motorsport is excellent, with the opportunity to get "up close & personal" with some very fast cars and their drivers.

You're right...there are some excellent Show n Shines too. I used to do a lot of them, when I had our various Brock Commodores....but now, with the Ks we do in the GTO.....sometimes it's not "up to scratch".....but as you have quite rightly reminded me, they are a large part of the Club's activities, and again, a good opportunity to see some great cars & people.
So...do I look for a red GTS?!

Ok so that means the HSV nationals is realy a HSV club nationals since only club members can enter. Sort of limits the quantity and quality of cars doesnt it. Not realy interested in joining any clubs.

If you read my previous posts, I'll think you'll find that I did NOT say that. In fact, what I did say, is that I thought you'd be ok.
Anyway, I have sinse confirmed that you WILL be ok to enter, as long as you have a genuine plated HDT/HSV vehicle.

Eraser is a long term HSV man and has always resisted joining any HSV Club for his own personal reasons which is all good.
Your just going to waste your time trying to talk him into it. Clubs just are not for all people.

Pickles, sometimes I am concerned about this factor. My car is about to click over 175ks and a lot has been on country roads, thus the front bar and bonnet are showing the wear. I've had the front bar painted 3 times in the past 2 years and the stone chips continue to add up.

However, I would feel aggrieved if any person within the club felt that just because some members cars are ACTUALLY driven and enjoyed more than others, that they are less worthy of being displayed. That sort of attitude does not, I submit, correlate to the ideologies of the club.

Naturally, people shouldn't be driving cars to shows that have bits missing, damage, etc, however, an elitist attitude will do more harm to such a club, than an accepting attitude would.

I'm not alleging any particular look-down-the-nose attitude or occasion, however, simply observe that such an attitude, if displayed, would not attract me to the club in the future.

No worries....because you shouldn't feel that way. No one that I know in the Club would look at your car in the way that you describe.....PROVIDING it was prepared properly for a show/shine.....and by that, I DON'T mean spending a lot of money on painting front bars/wheel arches/side skirts etc....no one should be expected to have to do that, unless they want to!.....I mean, what's the point...as soon as you drive it, you're simply going to get more of the same. I'm in the same boat myself...our GTO will have done 70+ks by then with NO paint at all.....so we've naturally got heaps of stonechips etc....and they'll be staying there!
But what you should do, is simply clean/detail/polish your car as well as you can....that's all I'm going to do...that's all anyone has to do.
Of course, there will be those that do spend big money on their cars, bring them on a trailer etc etc....that's all part of it.....for some....but not for me....we're proud of our car....& we'll get it "up" as good as we can....to do the car, ourselves, & the club, proud.

Actually i did join the NSW HSV club a couple of years ago. I am close friends with a few of the committee in the club also. My not want to join the club has nothing to do with the club itself. Met great friendly people in it. Its just that im not the car club type of person as i have numerous interests in the car scene and dont wish to limit myself to one style car club and dont wish to be a member of 10 clubs, if that makes sence.

Everyone is quite entitled to their opinion, so no rudeness at all!!
It's all early days yet, so there's no entry forms or anything like that yet.....lots of preparation to do, by not many people, (as usual!) so just watch the HSVOC website, to keep up with progress....not much yet.....but it will happen.

Hi Guys,

Am wondering where we are with this event? We are coming from Adelaide and would like to know costs etc, will there be any accommodation available with discounts for entrants etc.
Can't seem to find entry forms, will they be available soon?
Any info would be appreciated, so we can start to arrange things, it's AFL finals time in Melb so we don't want to have trouble getting accommodation

Have downloaded all the info, had a couple of queries and really happy with the quick response. Entry forms going in the post shortly, really looking forward to this event. Still trying to make my mind up whether to enter 'concourse' or 'street, car will probably get trashed on the drive from Adelaide to Melbourne so i'm leaning more towards 'street' class (limited time to prepare car for 'concourse'). Anyone else from SA making the trip over?

As far as I'm aware, they only made one...as a concept...with a suitably modified HSV Ute pulling it. I'm not really into boats, but I'm pretty sure it did appear at a HSV Nats...haven't seen it sinse.

As I live in Vic, I don't know a lot about what goes on in S.A. However, owing to personal friendships that go back almost 30 years, (to the Holden Dealer Team days!), I am a member of the HDT Owners Club of S.A.
It is a great club, it does not get involved in the HDT v HSV rubbish that is "cultivated" by some.
The HDT Owner's Club of S.A. welcomes HDT & HSV cars, both of which have equal status, both of course being the "factory" modified Holden of their era.
So, if you really are looking to join a great Club, & would like to meet some genuine enthusiasts, give them a call.
If you need a contact number, give me a call. Some of their members will be at the Nationals...you could catch up with them there.
But finally, let me just say, this Club is not just about the cars....it's about the people....and it's got some great people.

I am only applying for street in any case,So yes plenty of room for me outside... that way I have friday to polish the daylights out of my ride and come in (with my other HSV) for the friday night show to enjoy it and see everything properly, then I will stay with my car saturday buffing madly all day to keep it gleamin!!!!
And yes Pete the supercruise will be awesome, I have heard closer to 300 cars maybe even involved???
Cant wait, and remember E3's will be on the build line for out HSV tour as well :D

Well, there's nothing wrong with being optimistic anyway!
It should also be born in mind that I would think the "Cruise" will be restricted to include only those vehicles that have entered the Nationals.....as the final "destination" of that "cruise" could be some distance away, and entry to that "destination" would also be restricted to entrants.

We're taking the GTO to the Monaro Nationals in Qld, round about 2000Ks each way....won't be back until 6 days before the HSV Nats......and we've got to have the car "ready"....Now that's pressure"!

The HSV Nationals will be held at the Melbourne Exhibition Buildings Carlton on the w/e of 16-19th September 2010.
There will be the usual Concourse, Dinner, Cruise, & associated activities.
Details will be made available via all states of the HSV Owners Clubs.

I just saw Stewies Big White whale (Im sure its his) added to the Look who's coming to the nationals Folder on Facebook....
Still havent seen the mini white car of Nurburg's yet....:confused:
Lots of others I thought would be going arent on the list yet either????
Also looks like Effijy and Coupe 60 Wont be there as Holden want HSVOC to insure them at a cost of 12,500 for the event.....Very disappointing that Holden wouldn't foot this bill for the great publicity they will get out of the day!

Ah ! Tres Cool! ( excuse my french) Was hoping it is to be Lang Lang, damn shame about Effiy & Coupe 60, but i guess that makes way for 2 more HSV's inside!!! Anyone know how many entries there are?
Trying to slowly get the car ready but the shite weather we are having keeps stuffing me around, still too many sleeps too actually start counting. Anyone know who has entry #1 ?

i called thismorning... no real track events at lang lang, but there will be a camaro doing "track tours" a bbq, band, and then all cars to tour facility and finish with photos on the skid pan. they've still got fingers crossed for us to drive our cars on the track.

and yes i finally put my papers in, too lazy to post instead i scanned and emailed from work :p

Made the trip over, was a very good show. Some awesome cars in attendance, and the venue was outstanding. I have a heap of pics ( close to 700 :mrgreen:) and meet some very nice people. Congrats to all the winners and organisers, well done. Looking forward to the next one.

I had a great time at the Nats, as I always do.....the time at Lang Lang was particularly enjoyable....Karen & I both scored a ride in the Camaro.....very fast around the handling track, & 200ks around the oval, was pretty impressive. I would absolutely GUARANTEE that the Camaro will need a new set of tyres!

Well the Nationals are over for another how many years!!! It wasnt a bad event at all, I enjoyed most of it thoroughly!
Lang Lang was a major highlight, even though I didnt win a raffle to go in the Camaro...well done Pete (I know it went Sick!)
Was wrapped with my 2nd place trophy, not bad for my 1st show. A lot of you guys also did well on the trophy scene, lots of wins from within this forum!
The crowd numbers was pretty poor, but then again its finals weekend in Melbourne so that kinda makes sense!
I think I am going to have to paint my car a different colour if I am to stay a member of the HSVOC though, they seem to hate Red cars for whatever reason and it was made real clear a few times during the show which was a little disappointing .
I wonder how a VYII R8 would look in Panorama Silver
Anyway..... was great to catch up with a lot of you again, or for the first time... looking forward to the next event, cheers Richo.

Looking good the whale stewie, stopped and looked at that photo of the tail pipes though, just checking.

If I am not mistaken HRD was up to his old tricks, appears it does not matter who is around he will just shag anyone.

Cheers. Actually it was Go Sick cutting a rug to the band that got HRD up. Go Sick started the dirty dancing and HRD just went with the flow....so to speak.
A good time was had by all and I'll get some more shot up after I see what others post.

Yeah Richo......two HSVs and ya whinging about some rear seat entertainment for the ruggies???? Couldn't get a pin up there with a pile driver ya tight wad. No worries though......I told em that I had a word to Santa and he PROMISED with all his heart that there would be some under the Xmas tree as long as they give dad a really really really hard time for the rest of the year. Ummm, the Great White Whale got Best WM on Concours.
Competition was stiff.....a nail biter right to the end. :lol:

Concourse "Best VZ"
and the award i'm really stoked with "Concourse 8th Place Overall" considering we drove the car over from Adelaide in the rain all the way & then get the car upto some sort of show condition to receive that sort of accollade really blew me away, considering all the awesome cars there i didn't think for a minute i'd make the top ten.
About to put the car thru it's paces here at the Mallala Nats - a Show'n Shine, driving events deal ( similar to the Summernats) to see how we go & then i think it will be time for a change. Just wish they'd announce the release those Camaros to Australia!!!

I received the photos last night on a DVD for some reason it wouldnt open on my laptop or computer at home properly but it would open at work this morning (on a crapier computer???? :lol: )
But in any case the pictures look fantastic and are of great quality, so anyone thinking of getting the pics, they are good but I hope the DVD opens on your computer ok????
