As the title reads, Has anyone considered going to the Abu Dhabi & Bahrain V8 Supercar events next Feb? I'm looking at some of these Australian tours (theres quite a few). Has anyone been on any of these tours before? However, no one I know is interested in going, and just wondered if anyone here was interested...as twin share would be the way to go.

I'm not surprised you dont know anyone who is interested. Have you ever looked at the crowd during these events. Hardly worth Mr Whippy going there. Even the Formula 1 cant get a decent crowd at Bahrain.

I wouldnt waste my time or money to go to either of these events.

Each to their own I guess. I think it will be fantastic seeing the V8 Supercar racing around these great tracks. Last years Bahrain provided some of the best racing in recent years in my opinion, if you can remember, everyone was saying how good it was (compared with other rounds) with lots of passing. Plus the Abu Dhabi is night racing there, under the lights so that will be a sight.

HRT are running a tour, but I think they are over priced compared with other tours.

Me thinks grog is a cut your head off offense there too so you might want to rethink the trip. Better off in front of a 50" plasma with a slab than ending up on a slab. No offense to their rules or beliefs either...when in Rome...

Nicely put ;)

But Im not going their to drink (well, they do have bars and night clubs :) ) but to watch the V8 Supercars race around these spectacular tracks. They are amazing tracks, no argument there...

Then again it would have to be one of the most insane tracks on the planet. Could you imagine what it would be like to cut loose in your HSV? Sort of makes the Island look like a go-cart track.

I had a 1 night stop over last year in May on my way to Greece. It's a bit different over there you know, it's like being in a sauna all the time and brings back memories of my childhood when we used to 'back yard burn' to get rid of rubbish, sort of smells like that. Yes I will agree it does look like a good track. I reckon the Sydney race would be a goer, love to go this year but have the pull my head in a little.

Rick Kelly is awesome!!!

It's "coz the track is so fast but the sand keeps blowing over it and makes it as slippery as....well just real slippery.

Really? He walled it twice at Homebush on the weekend at Turn 8 ;)

They should send them over with softer tyres (sprints) and see how they go at carving up the track.

Im currently waiting to hear back from 1 Tour outfit, belive it or not, the GA ticket prices have not been confirmed and therefore haven't got a finalised price. I also want to go twin share, so it depends on that, I don't particulary want to pay an extra $2K to go single supp!!!

I was thinking if this doesn't work out, then I'd love to get to Townsville and watch the V8s there! My favourite track, what an awesome event it was this year!!

Agree with you there, Townsville looked awesome, if I was going to go to a V8 event outside of VIC then I would go there.

I want to head of on a tangent here.
I want to know why V8 supercars would have to be one of the slowest (in technical development) motorsports around.
Here is a couple of questions I ask to back up my comment;

Why do they run a 5.0 V8? Long gone in the Ford vs Holden road car battle:?:
why has the Bathurst lap record stood for 6 years:?:

Any Toughts:?:

Yeah but that 5.0L V8 will put out 500 RWBH. Imagine the speeds they'd get is they were camming and tuning an LS7? Shit they would be airborne half way down conrod. I reckon they have stayed with what they have got 'coz it's a workable engine size and when it gets down to it, 300 down the straight is fast enough. Reckon a Bathurst with LS7's would be a slaughterhouse and all would be feeling ripped off at the end of the day.
I'll ask Rick next time he is under my hood:mrgreen:

After he collected the wall the first time, is what caused his damaged steering.

5L is an aussie block i think, be a bit ironic if v8 super cars aust went to US big blocks huh. If they want more speed and grunt just charge them, then supercars would have more meaning and the nosie would be orgasmic haha.

I am looking at doing a full year tour in 2015-2016, So fly to the os races and drive the gts to the local events, be the ultimate road trip for me, just gotta see how the $$$ and the career are going at that stage thats all. Also going to see a few of the nascar races in 2013-2014 hopefully with a group of mates so that will be cool, sit in the croud with a holden flag hahaha.
