Heard on the radio today that 888 Racing will be switching to Holden from next year, which includes Lowndes and Whincup right through to the car washer.

Great news for Holden, but maybe not so good for the sport ?

I don't actually believe that this has been confirmed by 888 though ?

Scuttlebutt is the announcement will be tomorrow.Like you I am not sure it is a good thing for the sport.Take 888 out of ford and the top running fords are a little thin on the ground.I reckon Walkinshore won't be too happy about it.Won't do him any harm tho to have some competition.

I dont understand why they would want to move, i mean yeah Holdens are hotter, sexier, faster etc. But they have their racing formula perfect, they win almost every race! If they do move to Holdens and continue winning, then that can only mean one thing, that its the driver and not the brand of car.

I am almost certain it is a commercial move more than anything. They are supplying ford teams with chassis and engine setups which they will continue todo.It would be logical todo the same with Holden. Before that can happen you have some R&D to get through hence the move to Holden.Providing they do well on track they will have a very good grounding in the market. Not a bad way of making a few bucks.Which ever manufacturer is up you have your bases covered. The only snag would be if another manufacturer was to enter market.

Lownes is a ford man through and through and so is his team mate, so I wont be supporting them. I wonder how long lownes and his team mate will stay with holden, cause i think ford will want them back in their stable asap.888 run vauxhalls in Europe so they maybe ok.

It's confirmed, Team Vodafone will be running Holdens next year. Here's a link to it http://www.v8supercars.com.au/content/hero_news/july_2009/red_letter_day_for_teamvodafone/. Lowndsey basically screwed himself, when he was with Holden going to f**d he said, ive always been a f**d guy, so he cant just say now oh nah i was kidding, i love Holdens. He's pissed of alot of fans, and i personally will not be going for them to win, even if they are running Holdens. I will be especially annoyed if Holden takes away sponsorship from teams like Kelly Racing (Of course) and Supercheap Auto Racing. Here's a link to a video of Holdens paying out f**d, funny as! :)Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wN02V1m1XI&feature=related

As I understand it.

Both Jamie and Craig are former holden drivers and it will be good to see them back.

Craig has a personal contract with Ford which is not permitted these days but his one was let to run its course.

If we all remember that Ford withdrew its sponsorship from 888 at the end of last year, one of the reasons being the colour of their Vodaphone car.
888 could not change to Holden then because of Craigs contract with Ford that ironically expires at the end of this year.

I think its fair to assume that Holden has fronted up with some money to support 888 which is why they crossed over.

Surprise surprise its all about the dollar!!!
