Meguires scratch-x and meguires tec wax 2.0, 4 hrs of hand polishing with terry towls for the whole car to be done proprely.

03-27-2009, 01:51 PM
i did the same 2 weekends ago, the whole car in scratch X then the NXT tech wax 2.0, if you want to feel paint like glass, then take the time and enjoy the nice smell of both polishes.

Well basically I just washed the car with meguiars soft wash Gel and then I polished the car with Auto Glym polymer polish. It was really simple polish to use, no hard bufing etc but brought paint up brilliant. Well recommended product!!!

Hi guys, what ae your thoughts on buffers? I know i used to use one on my Ute but it left nice circle lines and got very frustrated after a good 5 hours at it when i stood back in a different light and they where there :(.

I have tried some with meguiars, not sure what type of polish, but i used my waterless wash micro fibre towels and washed it before hand but i always tend to get swirl marks after wards. Any tips??

Here is a pic of my old ute :)

Cheers :)

GJ227
04-01-2009, 04:37 PM
i would say the swirl marks is due to the buff running too quickly and burning the paint, likewise waterless washes will swirl if not done properley, and lastly if there is too many contaminants on the paint before you buff you can scratch a swirl in.

buffing needs to be practised and a good buff is required, i tend to hand polish and when it really needs a good buff, i take it to a mate who is a detailer, and pay him to get it right.

Cheers GJ227, If i do find i get circles then i hand buff it out and no probs :) I use the waterless wash micro fiber cloths with about 6 cap fulls of armour all wash and wax, ive found that most times that is enough to bring out the shine but i do polish it for that little bit extra.

Yeah lots less Crap on the old bus mate...I am happy with the camera choice...
I got the Powershot SX120IS Canon, 10.0 Megapixies, and 10x Optical zoom, lots of Digital zoom on top, it works out to be 32-320mm lens equivalent and out zooms my mates SLR, can adhust bloody everything in manual mode anyway, and has lots of great Preset functions for point and shoot in different conditions etc oh and was only just over $300 bucks
Takes a pretty good shot!

I have seen some great shots using a plug in called Lucis Art, I am only a basic computer user but would like some info on easy ways to enhance car pics using this software.

Anyone had any experiences with this ?

Cheers GR8T

Thx Neil .... mate, a little elbow grease and some sweat for good measure. ;) .... No really, Meguairs Scratch X and Tech Wax 2 plus the elbow grease. ... I am looking to get a RO polisher though and give that a whirl..

You going to use the RO with the scratch X or the wax, cause looking at those photo's your paint doesn't need any correcction so I wouldn't be using the scratch x with it just yet. Nice looking finish BTW

Have u clay barred it?

Hey Neil ...... nope. Never used one, and haven't had to atm.
If there is any road grime or tar spots I use either Prepwash/Prepsol or diluted kero followed by some Meguiars Paint Cleaner. .... I am looking at a RO Polisher as I have heard good reports on them and they seem create a similar, if not better finish with a lot less effort.

I need something that means less effort and less time. Some of the utube bids on the ro polisher look good.

Looks awesome, very jealous,. I think this of one of my fav posts now...

Is there any place in Perth the gives u a tutorial on how best to look after your paint,?????

Is the ro used for polishing only or for waxing too.

I have the heron white gts, can I get the same reflection quality? Most the pics in this post are from colored hsvs.
