Hey guys,

I've noticed that in all the promo/tech specs it states that the VE clubby a "premium" 11 speaker stereo system, however, I can only find 9 of those speakers in the car.

Am I missing something?

1. driver door
2. driverside dash
3. passenger door
4. passenger dash
5. front center
6. rear driver door
7. rear passenger door
8. sub rear driver boot
9. sub rear passenger boot

Did you know that there is an Amp in the boot? It is set at the min or 1/4 out of the factory, turn the Gain up to 3/4 and you will notice the difference.

Awesome, I didn't realise the amp had a gain setting. When you turn up the gain on the amp, do you turn of the dynamic distortion? I presume that if you are turning up the gain levels it might cause this to kick in quite frequently?

Heh Ian R8
what does this do exactly?? Does it just give a bit more volume??
I doubt if the sound would be any more crisp? I think to achieve a more crisp ,clear sound , I would have to change some speakers. Do you agree??
H:confused:ow easy would it be to remove the door panel to fit better speakers in there. I am afraid that I wont get the door trim back on properly.

GPJET - Mate,

I haven't done it myself as yet as I'm currently OS, but it will increase the bass of the the Subs on the rear deck and you can still control the bass level from the Head Unit.

I agree better speakers would make a heap of difference. Go for a good Component Set in the front doors.

I'm going with the following setup, but I won't be home until Apr, I'll post a report on it when its done.

MB Quart Amps:
PAB 1200.1D – 1 Ch
PAB 4100 - 4 Ch

MB Quart Speakers:

PVI 216 Premium Component - Front
o Speaker Size : 6.5"
o Design : 2-Way Convertible Coaxial
o Power Handling (RMS) : 70 Watts
o Power Handling (MAX) : 140 Watts
o Sensitivity : 87dB
o Frequency Response : 38Hz~32kHz
o Impedance : 4-Ohms

PVI 216 Premium Component - Rear Doors

Pioneer Subs:

TS-SW841D x 2
The Subs are the Pioneer 8” Shallow Mount 500W PREMIER subs, which I’m planning on putting on the rear deck. I’ve seen and read some good reviews, and if I can get away from having a sub setup in the boot, that’s the look I’m after.

Alex R8, I bought the speakers and amps (without the subs) from the US, all up cost around US$1,000 (AU$1,300), in Australia thou around $4,200 just for the MB Quart speakers and Amps. I ended up getting another set of 8" subs they where $500 for the pair. So in total it cost $1,300 for the speaker and amps, $450 for two boxes of dynamat and $1800 to have it installed.
Total $3,550- If bought in Oz around $6,000.

Can turn it up full with no distortion.

IanR8 that is a bargain and a half. could you please pass on the details about this company or website that you got this stuff off, because i know MB Quart speakers are competion grade and are expensive here in Aus. cheers mate and i reckon your sound system would sound insane. however with the subs that you said you replaced did you just get them from HSV or a different brand??

AlexR8,

Mate below are the two sites that I used, had no problems with either.

http://www.millionbuy.com/

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17700

The two MB Quart Amps that I got are long and take up a fair bit of space.

With the Subs, I replaced the standard 50 watt ones with 8" 500watt, which got from Northfield Sound in Brisbane. I cant recall the brand, and I'm currently overseas so I cant check.

Cheers

Ok I have the same queston. The topic appears to have been answered between the 1st and 2nd post by a chap named Atheist! however the reply is not posted? Maybe he replied by PM?
Anyway the question stands;
VE GTS 2009 Blaupunkt premium system, where is the last 2 speakers?
I have 4 doors
3 up on the dash
2 on the parcel shelf.

Anyone?

The rear doors have 2way speakers in them, thats a mid bass and a tweeter. That makes 4 speakers in the rear doors.

Just on a side note about the gain control on a amp.
The gain is used to level set to the input from the head unit.
If the head unit outputs .5volts max then the gain would be set on .5volts.
The way to adjust the gain is to,
1) All settings to zero ie: bass, treble, loudness, EQ.
2) Gain to lowest, play loud song, turn volume up on head unit to MAX with zero distortion, if you hear distortion turn volume down until gone.
3) Adjust gain to max volume without distortion.

When you play a speaker, amp, head unit with distortion the fets, mosfets, amp will clip.
The amp when clipping will send DC (Direct current 12volts) through to the vioce coils of the speaker, it is this DC that overheats and burns the vioce coils.
So if you don't want to wreck your speakers, do not play them loud enough to distort them.
This is why more amplifier power is always better, because it is harder to clip the amp at a given power output. Also the more power you have the more control you get of the speaker and the clearer it sounds.

I turned up the gain on the amp in my Senator as well. It did give significant boost to bass however, it also created some distortion and significant delay in the bass if that makes sense. When a fast song with boom boom was played, the booms out of the rear speakers were delayed and the whole song rhythm was out of whack. hope that makes sense.

Hey Ian R8, you will have no probs fitting the Pioneers in the parcel shelf, I had them in my VE R8 up until last week when I pulled the lot to trade the car. I had everything in standard speaker holes with the standard speaker covers so it all looked standard but packed awesome sounds. I had Rockford Fosgate door speakers, and 2 x Eclipse amps on the back of the back seats, so nothing interfered with my boot space. There was a line control module hidden behind the head unit to give me the RCA outputs and the sub control dial for that was mounted under the steering wheel sort of near your left knee. I am missing the sound already in my E3 but hubby has already commandeered the equipment out of the E1 to put in his Hilux so I will have to start over LOL. Good luck, you will love the sound difference, just use a lot of sound deadener like Dynamat or some such as without it you will get vibration happening.
