Hi im new to the forum and would like to say hello to everyone! and ask some questions too, ok im looking at a 07 HSV Maloo VZ R8 in black it has a load of wortec parts which are the following..... Harrop HH122 supercharger fully intercooled running 12psi with max boost and max power.Fully adjustable Wortec/Avd coilover suspension,Wortec Electronic switchable exhaust,Wortec headers,AP racing Brakes 6pot/4pot,Wortec cold air intake system. The advert says she is running 638bhp i would say this to be flywheel figure? what do you guys think? your the experts! she's only done 5500 miles and is mint condition there asking 27k or approx 55k aud is this too much??

Many thanks

I'm not sure on the re-sale value over there, but thats not a bad price at all if it was over here. We were looking at 06-07 VZ Maloo's yesterday actually and they're around 40-45K AUD, for stock examples, in Western Australia anyway.

The harrop kit retails for around 10K, the brakes would be worth the same again.

The power figure will be at the flywheel. A friend with a similar kit made around 500rwhp (650hp at the flywheel) with the H122 and a cam upgrade. I think he was running a touch less boost and his was only the 5.7L. Very very torque though, will definately get up and go.

Is it an auto or manual? That's going to be the weakest link in the picture so far. The auto's are hopeless with handling big torque figures. The manuals are much better, but make sure the clutch has been upgraded at some point. A stock clutch isn't going to last very long at all behind that monster. A decent one is worth a bit of coin too.

There's not a dirty big list of things that go wrong with these cars actually, so there's not really too much to look out for. Obviously as a tech, you're going to be looking out for anything that doesn't look or sound right, that's about all you need to do really.
If you have a look at the car, pick their brain about everything. Ask when everything was done, receipts will help, would be worth checking to see if the diff has been rebuilt at some stage (shorter gears wouldn't go astray), make sure there's still plenty of meat left on the brake pads and rotors, they're certainly not cheap to replace!

I'm assuming Wortec took care of the tuning details also? A dyno graph would certainly help here to ensure you're getting what they're advertising but also to see the quality of the tune.

The maloo is a manual so thats a good + point i dont like auto's anyway i will think up a nice long list to ask the owner when i go to see it. Anything else i should be lookin for? Anyone?

Thanks
