I currently drive a 99, 2 door, WRX, STi, very capeable car, none the less, I've decided to put some thought into changing to HSV VX GTS (only if it's red) what I'm trying to figure out and what I'd like your help with if you're able to, is to figure out what is the difference between a run of the mill commodore and a GTS, not as in joking, as in what is in it that makes the price and performance difference? Cheers, Peter.

What's the difference between a run of the mill Subaru Impreza and a WRX STi? If you really have to ask, just buy an SS Commodore.

what sort of Q is that? my god, it be like trying to compare poodle dogs**t to great dane dogs**t - i would've thought it be fairly obvious. I'm no car freak, but even i would believe that a Subaru Impreza (standard) is wy different in most aspects, inc $$ against an WRX STi.

yes, no doubt, way different, but where do I find what those differences are? where is the stuff that says about the engine is different because we used different heads that flow the gas faster by doing this and that with the head and we went with this compression ratio rather than that because... and the exhaust flows at x number of cubic meters per minute because...the gearbox are these ratio's because that....

once you have got one you tell us the difference if you can take the time out from driving it. trust me you wont be disapointed or look back.

Basically, the GTS was the performance flagship. It had the US Reeves Callaway modified LS1 engine, which had CNC ported heads, a different camshaft and a different style of tune to the run of the mill HSVs. It also came with Harrop 4-piston brakes, toe-control link rear suspension, grouse interior, etc, etc.......
If you look at the HSV website, you can find all of the options and facts.
Cheers,
Macca

you guys are a harsh crowd lol.
reminds me of the time a friend of a friend drove into the service station as i was filling up and she had a new boyfriend with here. they went over to the air hose and proceeded to put air in the tyres.
as i was paying she walked into the store with a worried look on her face and i said gday and asked if everything was alright. turned out the guy was struggling to put air in the tyres and could i help.
when i got over to the car i asked the guy how he was going and he said he worked it out and put air in it till it stopped. not sure what he meant by this i asked him and he said he filled the tyres up till he couldnt get any more in.
when i checked the pressure on the tyre it was up over 65psi!!! the thing was about to blow ..
i guess the point is people on this forum come from a wide and varied background and just cause you can afford an HSV doesnt mean you know anything about engines....
