Look 4 that piston slap on a cold motor, under 100,000 k's is pretty low i guess other than that every usual thing u look at b4 buying a car.

Great choice. The vx has got to be the best looking of the clubbies!

Thats the 2nd time I have heard you say that Brad... What about the VY..
I whould look at the Senator, Matt because for just a little more money you will get so much more. The only down side is that they only come in Auto.

I have had one for about a year now (I've only done about 6,000k's, only drive it on weekends, no major problems - just a leak in radiator - needed new side tanks as they develop cracks where the fans mount to the radiator - about $130 for the repair (I removed and replaced myself). Only other thing is the power window switches stick (but still work). My car (a manual) has 76,000 km on it (2000 build - 1st reg April 2001). They are a bit harder to work on than a V6 - there is a lot of engine in there. All ls1's built around this time are suspect for the piston slap problem, most would have had work done to correct. R8 seats are good - hold you in place nicely, they are firm though definitely not cushy. Bigger brakes than standard clubby would no doubt be more expensive to replace as would 18" tyres as opposed to 17's on an SS say. Also check out the compliance plate on the radiator support panel - the rivets should be hex shape, not round like hardware store rivets. Link pins on the front sway bar are a wear point on Commodores but not expensive to replace ($140 fitted or can buy the pins for $40 to $50. Personally I prefer an largely unmodified car, I would be suss about how modified cars have been driven. My car seems to have had a replacement CD stacker (10 stack in the boot), so maybe these can be a problem. Log book servicing is a must, but you would think anyone who can afford a new Clubsport can afford to service it. Most will now be with their second (or third) owner now, so you would want to know it is still getting serviced), Alloy engine and no coolant change not good, same with brake fluid change. The red ones go faster! I would be reluctant to buy a GTS 300, there are some posts in this forum re valve spring/ camshaft problems in these, awesome cars though.
