as i've had chrome wheels for many years, please all be aware that all these products may create a great look, and i've used them all, but also be aware, chrome is just like paint. if you polish too much, eventually it wears too thin, thus having the copper base showing through. not a good look and is non repairable.
DO NOT use ANY wheel cleaners on chrome wheels. even many of the apparent "non acid" tyre cleaners such as maguires etc are actually still damaging to the chrome plating. if you want the best advice, do not contact the manufacturers of the products, contact state reps of your mag manufacturers as they have the most knowledge about whats safe on their products.
DO NOT over polish your rims!!!

Thanks for the advice vypower.
I haven't ever owned anything with chrome, but I always thought that chrome was such a tough coating to beat, even sandblasting it will be a mission!
And are chrome rims different to chrome car parts (like mirrors, front grilles etc) because Im sure you can get these re-chromed.

best thing to remember with chrome is to treat it like a paint finish. yes it can be tough and durable but just like paint and metal, it scratches, and it is only so thick as in paint.
all chrome finishes are different depending on the manufacturer and depending on the application. products used to chrome a plastic surface would be different to aluminium or metal for instance.
yes of course all items may be re chromed but in the instance of wheels for example, it is not cost effective or worth it to do so. very expensive exercise. mirrors, bumbers etc may be a different story.
look after your chrome, only wash with the car shampoo and if you feel the need to use a wheel cleaner, DO NOT use it when the rim is hot as the product will dry way too fast and will seep into the chrome surface. once the chrome has been "eaten into" it can not be polished out.
i find it best to keep an old chamois in my boot, keeping it moist in a plastic holder, and wipe the wheel over briefly every day. this keeps it a quick exercise, your wheels look their best every day, and the main thing is that you never leave anything on there long enough to require a tyre cleaner.
