vx r8 exhaust

i recently brought vx clubsport r8. i would like to change the note on it. i have heard that you can take out the rear muffer & just replace it with 2 tail pipes. has anyone done this or got anyother ideas :?: thank you

Yes you can replace the rear ressie with twin pipes, however you may find that it DRONES, which can get annoynig. Probably better to go twin 2 1/2" from the Cats back which would set you back around $600-700 for a mild steel system.

hi cool ride mate .mine is green and yours.i replaced the rear muffler with pipes.it was nice for a bit . im saving for a complete system from dephillipo.$2500.headers high flow cats and 3in twin..my mate recieved one not long ago and it sounds great. aswell he had a edit done and WoW its fast...240 rw kw. smooth and very livley.. :D

that wouldnt be a bad idea, although if you dont like it, and then pay for a full system it wont exactly be cheap. if you go ahead and see if you like the note, cut the exhaust cleanly just before the rear muffler and leave it at that. drive it around just for a few minutes and see if you like it. this way, if you dont like it, its simply a matter of welding the section back on, or replacing the whole lot. that way your not wasting time getting new piping, bending it, etc etc...

changing the rear resonator is a waste of time and money, and they do drone, difillipo exhaust are good, but pricey, you can get an x-force system with headers for a lot less than that, but they may be down by only 5rwkw, but the saving you can put into your tune :D
