Hi all,

ive got 25000kms on mt GTO and just recently i am getting alot of road noise from the tyres especially speed below 80kph. The dealer siad it because of tyre wear and that all hsv's have this problem of the tyre wearing from the inside due to camber set up. is this true, can tyre wear cause noise. Also ive got the standard brakes which i find really crap, braking from say 110kph they seem to fade. Any one have similar issues.

GTO155what year GTO is it? depending on the type of wear, and the type of tyre, excessive wear can cause noise. if youre brakes are not R8 spec, then theyre bound to fade.

its an 04 GTO (285 kw). I understand that the brakes shouldnt be as good as the r8 spec but, there really crap. they where much better when the car was new, and its only been 10 months since ive purchased the car.

hmm. you might just have a crappy set of brake pads. do you know if your car was a demo car, or was it straight off the floor?

Standard brakes on all holdens(except 4spot HSV) are CRAP. They are under braked for such a large car in my opion.

I have put 343mm rotors and AP 4 pistons up front and HSV 315mm vented rotors and calipers out back. It has drastically improved braking.

Also a good set of pads really makes a difference.

Any Recomendations on Brake Pad Brands ?

I'm thinking about putting in softer pads as I am getting"grung" noise from the front end from the brakes working too well. - STD R8 set up - no premium brake kit fitted.
