Hi All
Im new to Oz and new to the site, here goes my 1st posting....
Just taken delivery of a Coupe 4 (HSV 008), (well in late August) and enjoying it , only just covered 1400 kms so far due work commitments, so still "running it in" but the coupe is so sure footed with lots of grip, can't wait til I can really ring its neck and find its limmits........
Wondered if any members could advise on the following, having just been on an overseas business trip for 2wks. the battery on the coupe 4 was dead, called Metro Holden SA, Steve Ward ( who I might add has given excellent service), and he advised that because of the Holden Assist drawing .3 amp p/24hr and the coupe being double locked, yes the battery will drain in less than 2 wks , he advises I purchase a battery conditioner to trickle charge or of course start and run the car once a week(which is not always an option).
Find it hard to believe that the battery on a car of that size (price), can not maintain holden assist and alarms for more than 2wks ??
Any ideas where i can purchase a battery conditioner
Thks and Rgs Aln.

Welcome to the forum and please send or upload pics of the coupe4 in the Album area would love to see pics of your ride.

I owed a Monaro CV8 same problem I was also away on business for a few weeks then got back and the battery was flat I was pissed of course few months old and battery flat, correct its the Holden Assist.

After months of recharging and had my father drive it from time to time while I was away it still from time to time went flat. Finally Holdens recalled the car and fitted some kind of fix to the Holden Assist part so it wouldn’t drain so much power but still I had to keep an eye on it. Sure you could buy a bigger battery or some kind of battery conditioner but in the end it doesn’t solve the real problem does it??
I was told by Holdens basically once a week run the car, that sucks if your a business person always away haa

Holden FIX THE PROBLEM it seems to be in every car the same problem and they cannot solve it come on HOLDEN get it together. I thought it was a poor effort from there side,,,, BMW or Audi dont have that problem do they???
And the cost of the Holden Assist isnt cheap also forgot to mention...

Yes its true the Holden Assist does somehow drain the battery after 2 wks seems crazy haahahah???? Or maybe HSV could fix the problem before Holden can....

PLEAE UPLOAD IMAGES OF THE COUPE4... :D :D

the option you have which is used in 4wd's and we have recently had it fitted to our prado is a second battery. this battery is used for the cigirette lighter and accessories and have a trickle charge from a pirana charger on it.

you could get the same thing for you coupe i'd imagine with one battery used only to start the engine and another battery for the rest. when that battery goes flat and the engine is started it will automatically charge the secondary battery which is flat to full charge. duno how this would go in your situation but its something to think about.

Your best option would be to go down to your local auto shop and inquire about a trickle recharger. this simple device just connects to your battery terminals and recharges the battery at a slow and safe rate while the car is sitting in your garage. (safe for the battery). I know people who use this device on club cars they never drive.
