At the moment im running custom handmade extractors, turbo straight thru muffler and resonator. The piping is 3 inch from the cat back.

The car seems to run and sound good, but im not sure if the diameter of the piping would be losing power? I was considering starting again and installing twin straight thru pipes, in search of a deeper note.

What would you guys reccommend for this application

g'day!

i have a VT 5lt and the system i have is as follows:

pacemaker tri-Y extractors>>>high flow CATS>>>twin 2.5" (2 front mufflers, one each side)>>> into single 3" straight through system. i have no rear muffler resonator and feel that i have the nicest note.

the 3" isnt going to loose any power for you... it shouldnt anyway...

the single 3" is equivilent to twin 2.25" which when you think about it, its that much. if you look at people with their stock genIII's they usually go for a twin 2.5" system which equates to the same as a single 3.5" in power gains etc.

i beleive that if you want a deeper note. get a set of extrators. i can recommend some pacemaker tri-Y's because im really happy with the note it produces. has a drone at about 2,000rpm and when idling it has a REAL V8 note that you often hear from the old carbys.

if you have resonators on your system and want it deeper, i suggest that you remove them leaving only the front mufflers.

hope that helps, if you want some more info just ask :)

one of the best sounding v8's that i've heard was the manager of precise trimming's yellow vt sedan it was featured in a streetmachine magazine a while ago he was in the process of having an engine being built for it but that then went into another car or ute supposedly so to power the sedan he had a 195i in it the exhaust was twin 2.5 inch and was dumped before the diff GOD IT SOUNDED TUFF just a real nice deep rumble 8)
