Anyone know of a technical guide for the optimal running in of a new gen3 285kw ?
Or your tips would be appreciated.

mmm what can i say like most engines the secret is to provide variation in revs and load so you dont end up with ridges in the cylinders other than that let ur consious be your guide, i know mates who build em then thrash em from day one and their still perfect, myself ive had a coupel fail even doing the right things, my latest engines thou have been pefect out of the box, massive improvements, but take ur time particularily for first 500 kms or so, Cheers :D
Probably the most important thing is to make sure you warm it up throughly before giving it a boot full of revs. I like to keep it under 2500 rpm it its good and warm. As for km on the clock my experience with 2 HSV Gen III's had been that they take 20,000 k's to really free up.

i've heard of many ppl say that those owner's of genIII's who hammered them while running them in havnt had the oil problem, and those who drive them without pushing them hard are the ones that are making problems.
its a bit of a toss up really, but if it were my car, i'd probabaly just natrually hammer it.
thanks for your input guys...
might be picking up my brand spanker on friday

Maybe its just me, but I couldnt thrash my car if it only had 100kms on the clock...I'd wait till over 1,000kms before I hit the redline.
