VL Commie 2.5" exhaust

hi i just put a 2.5" exhaust with HM Extractors on my 86 VL and the sound coming from the car is awful. The exhaust is a 2.5" Mandrel Bent exhaust with 2 mufflers. the cat is the original from the stock system but the inside of it has been taken out so there would be less ristriction. The noise made by the exhaust is hollow and not very loud is this due to the cat? and how can i have my exhaust make a nice deep note?

I bet its the cats making the hollow noise. I cannot imagine anything else to make this kind of noise... :?:
