Dude,
Just bought a new GTO 285kw ......man does this thing haul. Only problem is that after 3 weeks I am looking to get some more power ............ Am I just being stupid or am I able to boost my 285kw up to the 300 mark . Or will this cost me a bomb to do and make my car unreliable. Dont get me wrong , I probably couldn't use all the power around the corners but I want to be launched of the line like a top fueler... Any thoughts

Hi
My Monaro came standard 225kw at the engine. I took it down to the Exhaust place had them put on an 2.5inch Stainless steel dual exhaust, then the guy from EFI Dynamics modified the ECU and we got around the 320kw to 330kw at the engine. So to answer your question yes you can get 300kw easily.
A standard Monaro comes with 170 rear wheel kw, after mods it ran a 251kw at the rear wheels.
If you like give EFI Dynamics a call, it cost me around 1500 AUS dollars to do the ECU mods. It took him one day to do the job. The exhaust cost around 1800 AUS dollars.
I have the car already for two years it runs perfect better then when I received it new I think. It never over heats I’ve driven this car through the centre of Oz, outside temp was 46 degrees and it never over heated.
Word of advice beware when choosing a tuner Some tuners do not bother tuning the whole graph just low or top end, this guy tunes the whole graph. Please first ring the guys at EFI Dynamics in Melbourne and have a chat to them, his done plenty of GTOs...Good Luck and let us know how you go...
If you have any pics of your new ride email them to me and I will love to post them up for you in the (Thee Garage) Posting area on the forum...

Thanks Sir HSV,
That info will give me a starting point and I will ring those guys in Melbourne. One other question was did your fuel economy go out the door when you did these mods.......................not that this matters but just interested to know....
Will take some pics today and email them off.... interior in this car is horn...................in my opinion

I forgot to mention 7 liters per hundred on open road cruising  in 6th gear.

Damn that 6th gear! :x
A retune is your best bet. Is yours manual or auto? If its manual, you can remove the MAF and get it tuned to suit, which yields some great results power wise. 300kW at the fly is easy stuff on an LS1 with bolt ons and a good tune.
I would also consider a diff ratio swap. 3.9's or 4.11's would be great, especially with the 6th gear ratio, economy will still be reasonable. If its auto, new torque convertor with a higher stall point and a good shift kit (or revised shift points thru the ECU) would work wonders.

Hi
As I know the GTS has a Callaway motor, the only thing different with this motor is that it has different heads compared to the GTO and Monaro.
The Monaro and GTO have the same motors just that the GTO gets custom exhaust, air box I think that’s about all, probably other small things to. :)
I’m jealous I’m waiting for my Yellow GTS Coupe :D it will be a long wait..
