HI Just wondering if anyone has used a Unichip and if so are they any good. A few poeple have said there not worth the money others have said they were really haappy with the performance improvements.
Any knowledge or feedback would be great. Reason im interested is i maybe able to get a second hand one at a good price.
Thanks

The best computer for the holden V8 is already in your car - the Delco!!
A custom tuned memcal (chip) costs between $800 - $1200 depending on what you have done.
It will be finely tuned to suit your engine, definately the BEST way to go.
Hope this helps,

definatley agree with HRTstroker. Go for the computer reprogram, chips are old tech and dont respond to the specific needs of your engine and the other mods you have done.

UniChip is a waste of money. Stick with your origional computer and have it dynoed tuned to suit the mods you have allready made.

you said a second hand one for a good price, do you mind saying what the price is? maybe this will change some ppls minds :)
i mean, if it were $100 id go for it, if you knew the condition and everything of it.
From what ive heard, unichip is good. Its piggybacked with your original computer and is easier to program and therefore cheaper. And you get to keep your original memcal and all its settings on other systems.

At the end of the day the unichip still has to be programed.
Why not go and get a custom tune and use the standard computer. The delco units are really very good.
Most people I have talked hate the unichip
well where in sydney can i get my computer programmed. i have looked but it seems no one will touch the computer in my VS GTS. Its either all Jap cars or LS1s. Is there no room for the 5lt block anymore?

Unfortunatly there just isnt the tunig capabilities in the old ecu, i have had success with a haltec piggyback system, but its not a cheap exercise, about $1200.00 for the comp, a bit of wiring, and about 2 hours on the dyno, about $1600.00, but the best part is, once you have a system like this, what ever change you make, it can be tuned. We specialise in tuning all models of commodores/monaros for the road and track.
cheers

The Eprom can be remapped using Kalmaker which is a widely used tool however results aren't going to be as good as edit or vcm suit etc. SAS at Silverwater apparently is good and also ****s Electronic ive seen good results from them. Both are in Sydney.
