HI guys just wondering if anyone has done or knows what the aprox RWKW is for a stock 215i and a 185i engine.
Is it around 40% loss or similar to that.
Thanks

My CV8 ran a best of 251RWKW that works out roughly around the 335FWKW at the fly wheel, Thats about 85KW loss Im thinking closer to the 25% loss hmmm???? :?:

I had a VR Senator 215 6 speed man with just an free flowing exhaust and k & h air filter and it made 189rwkw.

my 185I motor ran a 130.1 rwKW with just a filter and cold air.
i put a 2.5" cat back single exhaust with a resonator and single muffler and it went to 140.0rwKW
oh its auto.no internal mods

Your estimate is pretty close SirHSV, after looking around and talking to a couple of people i came across a table/conversion from another forum which when compared to the actuall result was only 1-2 kw out.
Manual is roughly 22%-25% and Auto 30%.
My Dyno run on the weekend recorded 174 RWKW as physical proof but the dyno is known to be a bit under as the guy stated, none the less 174 is what i have so i worn be claiming any other figure than that.
This equates to 230 FWKW, with everything being Stock apart from the development optimise engine i have which i can now prove.
Another GTS ran 155-58 RWKW which equates to roughly 215 which sounds about rite.
HSV 215 : is you engine the blueprinted motor? your power figure comes out to around an awsome 250 FWKW wiht only an exhuast and air filter which would be very close if it was blue printed as member 'HRT Stroker' figures show.
Hopefully with an exhuast and headers my numbers will look even healthier.

No I don't think it was a blueprinted motor it had nothing on the car.
It was dynoed at swift in dandy. At the time they asked what else has been done. I did the exhaust and air filter but i was the second owner of the car it was owned by coles/myre so i don't think they would have played with it to much so they said may be just a freak of a engine.
The car got stolen about 2 years ago now F__KIN' C__TS :x

the general power loss can be anything as low as 20% up to 40%, all depending on the conditions. on a supposedly 'perfect' day, you would expect a 25% drivetrain loss from one of these, assuming its a manual. autos obviously lose more power. this is all assuming the runs are done at a consistant altitude (ie air pressure), and on the same type of dyno.
all this really adds up to is: Dyno figures are rarely more than a boasting figure rather than any solid evidence of power.
if you really want to compare figures, the so called 'official' RW dyno tests showed the 185i coming up with 137RWKW and the 215i(non blueprint) at 178RWKW. this was also with new cars, drivetrain wear is also going to affect performance

Try workin this out! I transplanted a VT 195 motor into my VR Berlina. I have absolutely no idea what was done to the motor by the previous owner, but all i added to it was K&N filter and custom handmade extractors and 3inch straight thru exhaust. on the dyno dynamics dyno it reads 182 rwkw.. on the APEXi RSM its reads 176 rwkw!
It is putting out some pretty impressive numbers for a 195 5 litre motor!
Also in a standing drag with two different, unmodified 215's, i defeated them quite comfortably to 150km/h (NB: test was undertaken off street)

That sounds like a good numbers for a 195i engine.
What dif gears are you running?
Ant other moods later down the track planed for it?

its got 3.9 gears in the diff. Having a problem with it snapping imputshafts though! two have been sheared clean off already.
Not too sure what mods i'll do next, i reckon i will probably jus try some different mufflers to give it a lower note.
