Have a family friend who's editor of one the leading performance car mags and recently he had his Nissan GTR car jacked on one of the freeways in sydney. Apparently he was driving along and had 2 WRX's chase and where able to stop him. A group of non aussie's from both cars got out and dragged him from the car with baseball bat while the others took his car. He managed to free himself only to be chased by one of the WRX's of which knocked him down. Luckly he is OK.
It would appaer this is an increasing problem as it is now occuring out of the greater metro areas with 2 cars recently in the hunter.
Any ideas on how to avoid this from happening?

sydney is getting worse and worse every day. there is nothing we can do about it. if we carry something in our car that we use to defend ourselves, we get arrested for carrying a concealed weapon in our car.
if we mannage to actually hit the person doin it, he can then take us to court for assault AND WIN!!!!!!!!
what is this world coming to, people who commit crimes should be shot.
it would be cheaper then keeping them in prison for a few years when they will only come out and do it again.
criminals shit me to no end!!!
i work hard for my money and everything that goes into my car is completely legitimate. why cant they live like all other law abiding citizens!!!
ok thats my bitch

there is no simple solution to this i have CarCom (holden Assist) on all my vehicles, if it happens to me i'll giveem the keys and let the police chase em thats why i pay my taxes.
i mean these buggers are complete FW's i guess they dont pick on me as the parts are exteremely hard to shift? who knows?
cheers :D

I hope this was a one or two off situations I also hope it doesn’t turn into a trend. Does anyone remember maybe 10 and a bit years ago a guy got murdered for his XU1 Torana some guys rocked up to have a look because it was for sale then they all when on a drive and then shot him does anyone remember this story??? I think it was in Melbourne..

See whenever we hear about Holden theifts here in Perth, they are always the ones with Holden Assist. The buggers are tracked and the cars switched off and then their caught =D
We had one where some person was kiddnapped, and their car stolen, in a commodore and taken to the crims house. Of coarse the police rocked up within minutes cas the car had Holden Assist =D
I think there will be a growing trend in this sort of technology because of these crimes. Prices are coming down and people are finally seeing the need for them.

Say it with me guys, Kwiktrak, if you dont have holden assist, get a quiktrak, this is going to be an ever increasing problem, i used to laugh at my Molly because she locks the doors whenever she gets into a car, ANY car, even the work ute, but think about it, the panic button feature on kwiktrak could save your life. Molly is under strick instructions, to take off, i dont care about car and panel damage, so long as she comes home in 1 piece.

How do the prices compare?
Spose a car can be replaced but people cant eh?
What car does Molly drive that puts her at risk?

from memory it was about $1800, + $360 per year for monitoring, and Molly is usually in the CV8.
