Hey guys,

I've just put a deposit on a VN SV89 and i'm going to call holden tomorrow for confirmation of the car but was just after the following VIN advice:

The car has all plates including HSV engine bay plate and dash build number and looks original but i was wondering if there should be any variation in the actual VIN compared to that of a standard V8 commodore of that era?

The vin is basically 6H8VNX19UKL.....
I have never owned a 'Special vehicle' before and although i now how to basically interpret a holden VIN i was wondering if any of you experts can help me at all? I thought the VIN may have been different thats all!

If my car isnt a SV89 could it be a SV LE? Did the SVLE have full skirting and spoilers etc?? What was the difference between the two?
I would also like to know if the 5LV8 badge should be at the rear of the car?

Any advice/comments would be appreciated

I cannot help you with the VIN number but this is how a original SV89 looks like in White.

From my memory it has just a sticker SV89 on the Front and rear bumper and on the rear door panel I think?
My ex boss had a SV89 and it didnt come with a 5LV8 badge on the rear of the car just the sticker SV89 and that was it.
I would ring HSV head office and they should be able to help you with the VIN and they should be able to check the authentication of the vehicle.
Let us know how you go!!!!

Also forgot to mention thats the original bodykit the SV89 come out with.

ALL the SV89's were alpine white the SVLE's were maranello red and as for the 5lv8 badge no it didn't come from the hsv factory with it on as that is a holden badge not a hsv badge

take the VIN number down to holden, then ask them to look it up on their computer. they'll be able to tell you EVERYTHING about that car, from when it was built, the type of pack it was sold as, the factory options fitted to it, the first number plates fitted to it etc etc...

if holden wont do it for you, let me know and ill get my mate to do it (he did it for me, was really interesting info!)
