Hi,

First post for me, looking at getting a e3 clubsport and getting supercharged by Walkinshaw Performance. Thats the
easy part now how am i going to make this modification legal ? Is there anyone here from SA that has supercharged their car ? The last thing i want to do is pay out all that money and then to be pulled over and defected and then have to have it taken off !

Ive contacted Regency and they advised me to fill out a Application to modify motor vehicle form which i intend to do so but thought i would post here to hear it for hand from other owners.

Thanks

I'm very interested to see some replies here. I'm from Vic with the walky charger and have no idea with the laws here.

I thought if it was done by a Walky dealer that the compliance was part of the deal??
I could be wrong though, happy to stand corrected.

I would speak to the Walkinshaw workshop that you are going to use, mine was done in Qld and came with engineers report and blue mod plate as per the Qld requirements.
Cheers Greg.

I gave Regency a call and actually spoke to someone that wasnt a complete tool, he said the Walkinshaw Chargers are complied
as far as emmisions go and he said they have had a few come through in the last 6 months without any dramas. Ive filled out theapplication to modify a motor vehicle and he said he would get back to me and it was likely they wont need to see it. So i guess
the next step is insurance....

Anyone recommend one ? I will try Shannons first.

I use Lumleys SV for my insurance. They'll insure any mods so a charger wouldn't be an issue and the premiums are great.

I've just changed my insurer from NRMA QLD to AAMI, supercharger isn't a problem with them either.

i would think that if it is a factory option so to speak it would be legal, a dealer cant sell a car thats not legal, but i think it would havto keep the walky tune for emisions...

I had my e3 Clubsport supercharger put on in yatala QLD by walkanshaw, but my car is reg in NSW.
Around $200 for QLD Plate, but they phoned Sydney and they said I didn't need one for NSW.
I'd like to know if that is right

AAMI have smashed anyone out of the water... Agreed value of 80k $1556 a year.

Now all i need to do is to find a E3 clubbie

Was that with all the mods?

It would be, mines an E3 maloo, supercharged, sunroof, all mods covered insured for $73 000 premium of around $1600. I actually thought that was expensive , Nrma Qld were only just over $800. But AAMI were cheapest in NSW.
Cheers Greg.

There is a reason why AAMI are the cheapest though...

Just a quick google search brings these up. Plenty more horror stories around. Beware that they will not give you choice of repairer and the assessors are employed by AAMI and not independent like other insurers.

As far as I'm aware they are legal as long as you don't changing injectors exhaust. I run a vortech s/c which is ADR approved as long as I don't modify other things oop's bit to late lol. I'm also lead to believe if you run e85 it will help with emissions..

TI had a Porsche 911 repaired through aami about 4 years ago and l was amazed that
they sent my car to a porsche only specialist repairer, the asessor said they would not
trust anyone else. The repair was perfect and l am very fussy as l used to be a car detailer.
I really hope their standards have not fallen but after reading
these bad reviews it makes me wonder
