View Full Version : Looking at a 08 VE R8 tomorrow, what should i be asking the owner

Hi all, long time no chat, long story but not for here. Anyhow, im upgrading from my VT clubbie to a VE R8, ive spotted a nice one that has what the wife wants,Herron white, auto, leather, sunroof and 63000k, the bloke is looking for 45k rego and rwc. looks very clean from the pics ive seen, has a walkie exhaust and intake too.

What should i be grilling the owner about, anything in particular i should be asking? what should i be looking out for on a test drive? and is 45k a good price.... ill haggle anyway but i dont want to throw an ill informed price at him and be told to fark off.

Last car i bought was in 1998 so im a bit rusty.

Any help would be great

Seems a bit pricey to me. Can get them from dealers with less km's and warranty for just over 40k. It's a buyers market for E series atm.

way overpriced no more then 38k for an 08.see if it has a full stamped service book as well.if you are also pedantic about the paint check for scrapes on front and rear bars as well.also do a revs check to make sure there is no finace or if the car has been in an accident.

I agree with the others, sounds way over priced. That's closer to E2 pricing that the VE model.

Just looked at it, drove it, poked it, crawled under it and shes nice, but as you guys have said way to pricey, im in negotations nowwith the owner and im asking for 5k off the price with next years rego paid aswell.
This R8 is immaculate, even shot over to the dealer where he purchased it from and spoke to them too

late 08 was E2 wasnt it..? see if it has the LS2 or LS3 in it, but yea if its E1 u can get a GTS with 30k on the clock for $45k so i would be asking less...

Congratulations, looks amazing, like the twin of mine! Something cheap that looks really good is the Walkinshaw fog light covers, I think they are about $120 but they actually change the appearance of the front end, I think for the better, have a look at the pics of my car, they also offer protection to the expensive hsv fog lights. Again congrats, enjoy the new car!

Looks nice. Like the pentagon wheels too.
One small thing though, its not an E2 and they are not GTS wheels either!!! I believe the Pentagons were an option wheel accross the range but not sure if you could get them on GTS though. I suspect you could.

If it has the LS3 it is an MY08 (Still E1) which started around the middle of 08. If it has the LS2 then it is an E1 Clubsport.

E2 started in 2009 with the daytime running lights (DRLs)
