I have seen build number 147 which I believe was the last one built. There was only 132 built, so I dont know if the numbers where projected similar to other builds and then cut short. EG. Vn Group A and W427. I will have a look for the link, its a black car from memory.

Doesn't matter the number, I just love the quirkiness of the Coupe 4. They may not be the quickest or most desirable but they are definitely something that won't be repeated.

Going to be one of the collectables of the future, that's for sure.

Coupe 4?...Very very special.
Had a ride in a highly modded one, which was owned by a member of the HSVOC.....Big cube engine, supercharger etc etc.
Very interesting....when we took off, we had the windows down, & smoke came in...from the spinning front wheels!
Cheers, Pickles.

There is a little bit of mis information in this thread.

yes, there was 132 built, but 147 is not the last one built. There are 5 built after this one.

My list from HSV states that this car is the last one.
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/hsv-coupe-2005-13393537?base=1216&vertical=Car&cr=4&eapi=2&__N=4294739356+1246+1247+1252+1282+4294965530+4294 965570+1216&num=15&silo=Stock&sort=default

Called up the owner, he was aware it was one of the last, but was pretty chuffed to find out it is the actual last one.

Who knows what happened to the build numbers, as they seem to be all over the place.

We have found 3 pilot cars. All have different configurations.

I also suspect that the silver one on CarSales is the first ever car built, that was available to the public, Build # 32. As it is the first one on my list. This is also a pilot car. Sent the owner an email but he never replied.

whats the breakdown of number of each colour built, i heard there was only a handful of red ones, is that correct?

V2 series 111 28 produced... VZ 106 produced
Total built= 6 pilots, 134 built with 108 for oz and 20 for NZ
Taken from Monaro Magic by Norm Darwin
HSV built 11 prototypes to develop the Coupe 4
not sure of colour combos but they only came in Phantom 11, Sting Red and Quicksilver
That silver one on musclecarsales looks good but dont like the black vents on the bonnet

Sorry for the delay. The Missus put my list 'in a safe spot'.

Ok, there was 6 pilot cars, all have been sold off to the public. 2 are at the start of production. another about 15 cars into production, and then another 2 with the introduction of the VZ series. (Double hump binnacle and split engine covers.

132 cars produced.

39 in Silver. 11 of these with Ochre trim.
31 in Red. 9 with Ochre.
62 Black. 19 with Ochre.

All up only 39 cars with Ochre trim.

9 cars having Red with Ochre. Rarest combo. (one for sale on New Zealand Trade Me if anyone is interested.... cheap too)

There was 15 factory fitted sunroofs. (not to say that more were not fitted by the dealer or owner)
8 had Tyre pressure monitor.
8 had GPS factory fitted.
3 cars had Holden Assist fitted. The first one being the pilot car 15 cars into production. This this could have been the reason why it was a pilot.

There are only 3 cars that have all 3 common options, Tyre pressure, Sunroof and GPS. These are all Silver cars.

We have found some very interesting cars. We know of a pilot build car, that has Ochre trim, but black door trims. All HSV documentation tells us it should have black trim. So we suspect that it was originally black and they swapped it out with Ochre as a trial for the color and left it in place.

I think that about covers it. Need to know anything else? Ask away and I will see what I can find out.

Cheap too if you consider buying one and then doing the Mods yourself.

Been for sale a long time. Would not be surprised if you could get it for under $55k.

What was the restriction on HSV not going above the 270kw on these cars??

SV300

From 270 to 285 HSV fitted bigger headers which did not fit the front drive setup.

I also suspect that reliability prevented any other method of power increase as the engines remained the same.

As SV300 said, HSV stated reliability of the awd system was the reason for not increasing above 270, although there were a couple of people who have SC to their coupe4's but haven't heard about the long term results of this.

Nope, Couldn't see Mark's old Coupe 4. It was red, & is not the one listed in WA, which was the only red one I could see.
Nevertheless, Coupe 4 is an AWESOME vehicle, something HSV should be very proud of.
Cheers, Pickles.

The 'official' line is that bigger headers would not fit. But the rumour has it that they were unsure of the reliability of the driveline with more HP.
Shame really, history has shown us that the diffs hang on really well with big HP. Weak point is the trans, but with some tweaks this can be made to handle it aswell.

Hi Pickles,

I am reasonably confident that the Red one you refer to is now up in QLD, near Mackay. I was talking to the guy just after he bought it. Says it was just insane, he had never driven a car like it. he actually had 2 of them. He was selling his silver one (it was one of the 3 that had all 3 options from factory)and said that it just could not compare to his new red one. He told me he bought it from a guy in Vic. So chances are it is the same car.

Yes, that's probably the one...I think Mark told me that the car had gone to Qld.....an INCREDIBLE car....Mark never does anything by halves!
Cheers, Martin.
