This a statement from that release - 'The 20” SV Performance Forged wheel will be a $2,500 option on all models except GTS where it will be a no cost option.'
So does that mean I can go into HSV, pay $2500 and get a set? Bet my dog's left nad that would be a 'NOT!' If I am wrong then I will be in in a flash and grab a set. ..... oh and my dog will be sore for a while...

Well in the press release the wheels don't look that good. Prefer my GTS wheels or the Pentagon's...

Not fused on colours from the release. Maybe once I see a car in the flesh....

Enquired about this wheel today from a local dealership to see if I could buy them off the shelf ... got the 'what new wheels' and 'there's a Black Series HSV??'. Anyway when I find out if I can and how much $ I will p*** it on.

I asked my mate who works in sales @ a HSV dealership, they are a $2500 option only if you order the car prior to delivery(you might be able to get them free/lower cost if you haggle with your dealer).

Senator01
24-10-2011, 08:55 PM
Well it's not looking good. Have approached HSV direct about these rims and got a reply stating you can only order parts your car was fitted with.
I totally understand this but still do not see why these cannot be sourced for an E3 in particular, as it is an E3 they are being offered to in the first place? Anyway, I haven't given up hope yet. Stil trying ...

Well ... another downer. Even the dealer said exactly as I was told by HSV direct. SV rims only available as a replacement to those cars sold with them. In otherwords ... can't get them over the counter at the moment.

Maybe in a few months or so they may relax that decision ... here's hoping.

Hmm...ok well the spare parts guy must of worded it wrong to my mate then, cause i was told that as long as you had a current E3 with vin & HSV tags then you could purchase them.

I have been deliberately looking out for cars with these wheels and I have to say in my eyes they are jusy not quite strong enough (appearance wise) . . . I dont know what it is but they look like 19's . . . HSV have a tough new wheel ready to be design registered ATM that will probably be on the 25th Anniversary car . . . or the new MY2014 Car due in September 2013!!!

This current upgrade wheel that replaces the Pentagon Wheel would appear bigger if it was Silver!!! . . . I think. . . anyone on here good at Photoshop!!!!

the dealers cant physically sell the wheels to anyone unless they have an my12 hsv, this is due to hsv cracking down on all parts unfortunatly.

lol our hsv parts dealer here in adelaide will supply hsv parts to anyone as long as you show them the money , i went down with a friend and they gave him these wheels for his e1 senator. But if you ask the dealer, they'll say no and parts department says yes.

What sort of money are the dealers asking? I know where I can get the black ones for just under 4k. Not through a dealer either. I suppose the other way is to find someone that is buying a new my12 car, get them to order the set for there car, and (if they only want standards) give them them yours plus some cash. that is a way I suppose.

Hi Grange325 welcome to the forum search how to use photobucket if you don't already use it and post a few picks.
Does you phone book work on the EDI mine went went u/s after an upgrade! if you have not had a late model hsv
watch out for the front bumper in front of the wheel catching on parking wheel stops it's not nice to rip the bumper off
easing out of a parking bay.

Hi Grange325, those rims look great, I dont think much of the after market rims on an E3. A few repairs i had done
noting they all may be sorted by now, my build date was 3/11.
1. Harmonic ballancer,I had some surpintine-drive belt noise, first i had a new drive belt fitted (maybe) then noticed
the main drive pulley had a big wobble so a new harmonic ballancer and rubber bush was fitted that sorted the noise
and the drive belt will last for ? 100,000k and not 20 or 30,000k
2. I had some oil just inside the wheel arch and power steering fliud low, the leak was where the power steering pipe
goes into the main arm right in the centre of the car, bloody hard to see and even harder to get to, the HSV/Holden
workshop fixed both with a free loan car.
3. I was a bit fussy with the door and panel allignment and had them adjusted don't unless its a big problem!!
4. front bumper catching//
5. watch out for stone chips on a long drive the paint on my bumper seems to be bloody thin i took other members advice and brought a carbra.
what do i think of the E3 grange, did it really start out as a caprice i would not swap a grange for two new caprice.
cheers andrew

Gday Grange325, welcome to the forum, nice ride.

Heres a couple of pics of my new MY12 ride with the SV rims. I have to say in my opinion they are the best looking rims HSV has offered. After owning an E1 those rims were a nightmare to keep clean of brake dust. These hide the brake dust very well.

Enjoy your ride,
Cheers.

You make very valid points E3 4 ME. I just sort of feel if I'm going to pay 5k for wheels, I don't want to see them on any other cars hahah
Btw are they the wheels on the new hsv's or just the black edition?

They are standard on the black edition and an option on all others. 5k for 5 rims is a bloody good price for quality forged rims. Wouldn't get many others cheaper than that.

Don't they come in two colors? Black and a charcoal colour?

The gloss black 20" forged rims are standard only with the "Black" limited edition Clubby. You can not have these as an option on anything else.

The same rim in what they call "dark stainless" colour comes standard on the MY12 models when you tick the 20" rims + Leather option box. They have replaced the 20" Pentagons. Same forged rim, different colour, much like the E1 GTS 20" rim colour.

You can also option this rim on the GTS (no extra cost), Senator and I think the Grange, but not 100 percent sure on the Grange.

Sorry, didn't explain it very well. The wheels E3 4 ME has are the black edition wheels and yes they are an option on all others, albeit in a different shade.

I see I see. So I was right :)
Yeah I really like the color they come in for the normal hsv (non black edition)
IMO they shit on pentagons. I'm so glad I never paid extra for the pentagons. (got them to throw in the seats free :D ).
Slightly unrelated, but anyone noticed that they replaced the black wheel caps for chrome ones? I got a set to go with my new wheels :)

If the car comes out with 20" standard then you can opt for the SV's at no extra cost.

Was at a Team Vodafone finction last night and most of the HSV cars at the dealership had SV rims on them ... mmmmmmm

Firstly, most cars come with seats standard!!!

The chrome caps are an MY12 upgrade

Yep, that's how HSV identify the option fitted to your car. - 20" SV rims... means when you need replacements, your VIN will allow you to get them with no issues...

HSV got a bit free with the SV badging on the back .... for my car it was meant to identify Bi-modal and Lane warning but it seems you get it for paint colour these days .... no uniqueness anymore it seems. That is why I sourced the 'black edition' rims ... to add an additional difference for my Senator. It is now a true "black'.

yeah i didnt even notice the caps where chrome till i was staring at the new wheels, but when you do notice them, they look great

I agree with all of you regarding the SV performance wheel...it is the best looking wheel for our HSV's. As I have said before
when I bought my Maloo a few months ago it was on the dealership floor and could not get the wheel option.
I didnt necessarily want leather, but I had been looking for 4 months for a second hand Maloo, auto in voodoo blue and could not believe what some of these people were asking for a second hand GXP or and 3 or 4 year old R8. So when this one turned up for $59k, less my $3000 GM rebate I jumped on it straight away.
Now I am considering the SV wheels but as I am finding out I need different tyres to suit those rims and they will cost an extra $2000.00 for decent tyres. So I want ask you out there, are there rims with a blue
accent except the ones speedy wheels are selling which I am aware off? Being in the car industry I am considering re-upholstering the seats and door trim in black leather with blue stitching for $1200.00. But I would like to get your feed back on those rims with blue accent. I had a browse at the American market and boy do they have some great looking tyres. I do know that our rims are 5 stud but does anyone know what the centreline measurement is and what is our bolt pattern?
