hi guys,
i have recently got a FIFO job doing 2/1 so ive decided to sell the everyday ss wagon and get a project...

i really love the cherry black hsv's, especially the gts but i havnt seen many for sale in WA..

so my latest thoughts are a clubby as i have seen a few in good condition for around 10k in vic and qld..

can any1 help me out with how the 5 speed will handle a 355 stroker? or should i bide my time and wait for a gts 2 pop up?

any help would be appreciated and if any1 has 1 for sale, im all ears

cheers
shane

Wait for a GTS to pop up. It will be well worth the wait compared to a Clubby. Pretty sought after colour though.

The GTS or even a 215i Senator will come with the 6 speed which is much stronger than the 5 speed.

Something like this (http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=10667725&__Qpb=1&keywords=&Cr=12&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal |1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&SearchAction=N&YearToShort=1671&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282 4294965530 1671 904&silo=1011&seot=1&__Nne=15&trecs=15&__sid=130DC61D2E3B) seems decent value for money (well worth the look IMO), but you could wait around for something in the right model and colour to come along... Just depends how patient you are!

cheers white_lie

yea i have seen that car advertised, but my heart is set on cherry black..

i no the best option would be to wait, but my project ideas change daily haha so i would like to get something in the garage and start 1.

just have to keep my fingers crossed i guess

Yeah gotta love the cherry black. If you have the patience to wait for a GTS all the better but I know the feeling of just wanting to get one NOW :D

Have just heard back from a bloke selling a vs gts cherry black manual,
I went and test drove it in april and loved it :) but he took it of the market, he told me 2day that is back up for sale... It has 160,000km and a fair bit of engine work, can you guys please give me a figure on wot you would pay 4 it?

In april he was chasin $18,000
but im lookin more at like $16,000 if i can.

car is pretty clean, respray 2 years ago so he says.
long list of mods including custom twin throttles, cam, heavy duty clutch, sounds amazing...

interior is cloth and good nick exept a small tear on drivers seat but shouldnt be 2 much work to fix

all that is left to do to it in my opinion is diff gears and alloy radiator... well thats unless vortech tempts me lol.

They hold their value quite well, 16-18K would be in the ballpark IMO. The mods will put off a lot of other buyers, everyone likes classic HSV's to be original... But if its what you're looking at doing anyway, then go for it.

i had a very clean 1997 VS GTS manual in cherry black. Had full leather interior too. I have pix on here as well as http://www.musclecarstables.com.au/details.php?id=407

All up it cost $21k with getting it up to standard and I sold it 12 months later for $14500 in april last year.

I'd really think twice about selling your SS to go back to a VS though. Although very nice cars they arent as nice as the VY for daily driving for your days off. Have you considered keeping the VY and buying the VS as a toy. Its well worth it if you can afford to do it.

i have considered it mate but ive decided to sell the wagon, get the gts toy and buy a cruze as a daily for me on break and mrs wen im gone.

if i keep the wagon much longer it'll become a money pit as the ls1 has a huge range of go fast goodies lol
