More info required!, I ***ume you have an E3 and your EDI is saying this, If so it's because you didn't get a DVD player as an option

Simple, if you don't have a dvd player you cannot watch dvds, you can't magically turn your cd player into a dvd player if thats what you mean!!??

The lock out in the config options, is not to unlock DVD (***uming I'm looking at the right thing) - it's to allow you to watch a DVD while driving. It's greyed out which will because it's illegal in Australia to allow this functionality.
I have the DVD option (rear mount on ceiling - MUCH better fit than any after market one) and I can watch their movie on my IQ screen, but only when stopped (or rolling very, very slowly).
As soon as I move, the screen goes blank - locked out.

Well now, if thats what your talking about - VIM override (vehicle in motion) this CAN be over ridden. I have a roof mounted rear DVD player in my ve and i can now watch dvds in the front whilst the car is driving. I also have a digital set top box so i can watch tv on the front screen, whilst the kids watch a dvd in the back.

"The blouse car" lol. The VIM override was about $300 from memory and the TV install was about $900, was done back in 08.

hey guys, not sure about the ve setups.. but in my old vt ss i had a aftermarket dvd unit put in the front consol, the sat nav worked well but i could only watch dvds when parked. i found that the earth wire for the dvd side was connected to the hand brake, so when puting the hand brake on the dvd player was earthed. all i did was found the wire in the handbrake and found a new earth point.

Jahi, Nah it's a different set up in the VEs there is a VIM module that needs to be over-ridden. The module sits up under the dash near the steering wheel

ah thought that might be the case.. just another way for people to get more money out of you.
give it a few years and you will be able to by a quick fix like a custom vim modual. In the VE range i think the roof mounted dvd would be the best option.

Ya not wrong there, it takes about 30 seconds to plug in and override the module, yet it costs about $300. go figure.

sometimes i think it would be better off going back to the carby days when things were simple..all you needed was a hammer and a screwdriver to fix anything! ha
