Looks like a tidy example. Only thing that stands out is the tow ball. Ask him what he's been towing and if it's a boat have a good look under the bum for any signs of rust/salt damage.

Neg at 31k, could likely pick it up a fair bit cheaper

Looks to be in great condition, particularly the seats.

Why would the original slotted rotors have been changed out for cross drilled though? Heavy load as white lie suggests?

Am i getting mixed up with the SV300, probably am i think . So 50 skaife and 134 SV300. I think i better do some reading tonight and make sure im up to speed on the Skaife and SV...
The Mrs is onto me , i think she knows exactly how much i spent on cars last yr, i wouldnt have a clue . She put her foot down... put the VF off till End of the yr and buy a skaife , VF and no skaife ,not allowed both... Think ill take her away for the weekend, lay down the charm, worth a try. Its worked b4 .. Or could just trade her in haha... tough choice
Are you near Cannington Whitelie?

I like the SV300 over the Skaife actually, Have a vt ss same colour. Always liked the VT, VX shape..

Not really but it's not far either...20 minutes, give or take.
That SV300 is at Shacks. They're only 5 minutes or so from me.

It won't be the same shade of gold. The SV is Hackett gold (named after Grant Hackett's Olympic performances) where the VT will be Tiga Mica. Hackett is lighter, especially in the sun.

Yeah I'll head over there tomorrow.

They seem to pop up fairly often in WA for some reason but they're still a nice and rare car. Most would take a GTS purely for the name but these are much the same (pretty much the VX II GTS if you will) and less made.

The Senator 300 would probably be a nicer one to have but I think there's only 30 of those.

I liked the auto in the VE , thought i wouldnt like the manual but once it was in that all changed. In a standard car auto all the way, but with good power the manual gets you much more involved.
The guy who does my tuning has a VN stuck a big turbo on a stock ls1, pulled 8sec. Go the turbo Rod,
Id say that VS hasnt much depth in the paint left.

I did think about it when I looked over the pics. Just looks like cosmetic stuff - wheels, engine covers etc.
You'd want to change the cam to an aftermarket one with similar to stock specs as the factory cam and springs are rubbish and will nuke the motor when they let go. Camtech do one.

mickyinc
03-02-2016, 11:29 PM
Hope its only those few things that need changing. Reworking the heads and dropping another cam in wont take away from the originality . Think only thing thats gotta be on the money is paint, resprayin is a pain to get spot on..
Thanks Whitelie....
Will pick up the LSX tomorrow. Will find out the builders character when he gives me the bill. The block i bought was a finished block , so should only be checking tolerances. Only saying this because he mentioned checking out bottom of sleeves for rod clearance and the block already has that done. Hope he doesnt try it on me

Just went and had a look at the SV300 Mick. Salesman was next to useless. Couldn't tell me anything about it at all.

Personally I thought it was pretty rough for a car with 80k on the clock....pics below, you might need to view on a PC or zoom right in to see what I mean in some of them...

Points to note
Drivers leather worn. Usual for Coulsons but mine is in better nick with nearly double the mileage.
A lot of the kit needs panel and paint. Paint cracked on the front bar and doesn't fit right (only got a pic of the bottom but it's cracked near the headlight as well. Probably tapped a curb or something). Drivers skirt cracked.
Rear map pockets both need replacing. Again, it's common but probably not for a car with 80k on the clock.
Missing a lot of badges. No 300's on the side and no HSV badge on the back. Didn't even look for SV badges lol
Lots of scuffs here and there. Most might polish out but makes the car look like it's had a hard life given the kms.
Not sure what the go is around the sunroof. Looked like black markings where it should be duco paint.
Usual fading of rubbers around the windows

Sounded stock when he started it up so would likely need the cam and springs doing. No receipts in the glove box so unsure...If I bought it I'd pull it down for a look/change regardless.
Looks like the only mods are engine covers, wheels, springs etc.
Personally I'd give it a miss, it's overpriced at 30k for the condition it's in

There's also a black VX GTS in there that I had a quick look over. Much better condition and has 100-110 on the clock from memory. Smallish cam in it, excellent sounding exhaust but didn't poke my head underneath to see what brand (the bitumen would have been like 60 degrees today!). A lot tidier all round but same price.

Thanks for taking a look Whitelie. Will take your advice and give it a miss, with 80 on the clock looks like the owner didnt give a rats, looks like done more than 80k os stated. Thats a downer
I have a few badges if anyone is after them
