Hi guys I'm looking to buy a hsv gto preferably a signature edition but the normal model is ok, I'd like it to have less than 70k kilometres, the colour would need to be red yellow or blue and I would like it to be manual, what do you guys expect me to pay for one of these? And let me know if you have anything for sale.

Mate how did you go finding one of these? I have just started looking this week, for much the same thing.

Signature Edition only came in red, it also came standard with 6 spot AP brakes.
The VZ GTO is a TOP vehicle, the only Coupe with the beautiful 6L LS2 engine, We owned a new one, Devil Yellow, Yellow Leather, AP 6 spots, Rear roof spoiler,...lovely car.
Yep, I LOVE the VZ GTO, many on here will disagree with me, but I'd prefer one to a GTS, the LS2 is a better engine than the C4B,......IMHO of course.
Car Sales is your best bet, and yes, spend a bit more or save a bit longer & get a GOOD one. A GOOD one IMHO, is original, low ks, with a mint unworn interior & full books & history.
The VZ GTO LE is a pretty special vehicle too IMHO, and of course there's always the VERY special Coupe 4!!
Take your time, Pickles.

Thanks for your reply, of course you are talking to the converted which is why I am avoiding a 2002 GTS with allegedly 3 more kw but otherwise an inferior car. I just can't stand some of these cars with some very poor modifications, when the goose owner-pilot couldn't out drive a Ford laser. Stainless exhaust I can agree with!
There's a few for sale in WA (home of the cash up bogan until recently when the Mines laid us all off) but it will take time to get a yellow or Turismo. I may yet have to pay you fellas an inspection fee when I find one East coast. Do let me know if you spot one!
Cheers

Can't remember how many kms was on "The Big Fist's" but his took a while to sell at 30k so 50 will get you something decent.

Have you looked at any of these?

I know it's not one of your three colours but they always look good in black

I reckon the black still looks good. Find it strange that they didn't clean the engine bay for the pics though. But for an extra few grand, I would probably go with the red manual.

Disregard the second one, didn't realise it was a 5.7L on my phone

The owner drove from QLD to VIC and traded it in, now has just over 9,000kms.
Now for sale for $78,888

I'm guessing the owner traded the GTO in on a new HSV. At least they got some k's in before parting with it.
Not sure about those wheels, they don't really suit the coupe, maybe if they were a few shades darker.

Obviously a very nice car. The dollars?....well ya get what ya pay for.
And the wheels, yes, I agree with you there, never did like 'em,.....the reason being that, I like to keep my wheels, including inner rim, calipers discs, inner rim etc, clean & dust free,......these wheels with small spaces between the spokes makes it very difficult to get to the calipers, discs etc, so ya gotta take the wheel off to do a good job, which to me, would be a real PITA.....So, I always preferred the standard 19" VZ GTO/R8 wheel.

I prefer the look of the VZ GTO/R8 wheels as well, added bonus that they're easier to keep clean.
How many Dealer Team Spec VZ GTO coupes are out there? I imagine that they would be a rare find.

From what I have read DTS was an option for 6l manual Maloo and GTO coupe as well as Clubsport. Wether or not any GTO buyers selected the option.

I've never seen a DTS spec VZ GTO, and I was right into VZ GTO's & all the options/news during the six years we owned ours.
If someone can show me pics of one with the wheels, other mods, etc etc, paperwork verifying the car, in private ownership, I'd be super interested.
However, I'm NOT saying one never existed, just that I've been around HSV for a long time, know members in interstate HSV Clubs, entered the HSV & Monaro Nationals in various states etc etc, but never seen nor heard of one?! If one does exist, with all of its original & proper options, paperwork etc, as specified in the link, then I would suggest it's a very rare car & worth serios dollars.
I see mention of the "Ohlins Suspension". I've seen that fitted and it was rubbish. HSV could not sell them as an option, virtually nobody optioned it, so in the end HSV simply sold them off at a fraction of of the original option price.

It sounds very unlikely that any VZ GTO's where optioned with DTS. I haven't found any solid evidence of any DTS Maloo's either. Would HSV have records of which models were sold with the option?
Do you know which suspension setup was used in the clubsport R sent to the Middle East? They seem to struggle to keep on the track lol

More money than skill right there!

HSV might have records, but I doubt they would be very detailed.

Still havent seen Ohlins suspension on a HSV. Might be crappy suspension however would be great for the 'wow' factor. If i ever come across a set ill buy it!

I can't be sure, but I have a feeling that it was either standard, or available as an option on the last of the VY GTS Coupes,..could've been on the Sedan as well. I remember seeing it fitted,...very cumbersome,..from memory I think there were parts of it round the back of engine bay,..it was a long time ago. I never knew anyone that had it, but I did hear of an owner who had a problem with it,..parts were extremely difficult to source, I think they had to come from Germany, but no-one knew how to get it working!!....never saw this myself, just heard about the issue.
Was this an option on VZ GTO?...I can't remember!
Anyone on here had experience with it?....if not, that will show you just how "unpopular" it was.

Standard on the VYII GTS sedans (but there's only 20ish of those kicking around), don't think there was any series 2 coupes? Was optionable on a couple of other models but I've never seen it in the flesh either.

An option on the SV6000 as well. Pitty it wasnt a better product, if it sold better we might of have more suspension choices now

Ive seen a VY 11 GTS advertised which was optioned with the ohlins suspension. That's the only one I've ever seen

My mate ordered Ohlin adjustable suspension and xenons on his Turismo GTO.
What Pickles said is right -ohlins went around the back of the engine bay. Adjustments weren't on the run like VE.
To set it up you really had to know what you're doing

Can't remember, but was VY 11 the last in VY or was there a VY 111?
I seem to remember Ohlins on a red auto GTS coupe I "nearly" bought, (couldn't get a decent trade in on our VN Group A), it was one of the last VYs, can't remember if it was 11 or 111?...but I think it had Ohlins!!
Glad I never owned it,...the VZ with its LS2 was a much better package, especially in the Auto.

I spoke to the guys at Booran Holden when i went to inspect it.

The owner drove down from QLD and traded it in as a direct sale. Not sure what he got but they just sold it for $72k.

Couple of things I didn't like about the car..
Never had an oil change in the service history.
Front ended has been resprayed, painting over the clear stickers and no chips were filled.
The sales person told me that whilst the guy was driving from QLD he spent one night in NSW where he caught some people trying to steal his wheels, so both from guards had to be repaired...
Lots of swirls on the car as well, of course it is fixable but there was overspray around the car from the respray.
