I've been on the look out for a VY or VYII GTS for ages, but given none I'd be keen on have popped up, and the 6.2+VE is probably a way better combo anyway, I've started to have a look at what is about in a MY09 E-series (which I prefer to the look of the E2 personally) and they are a bit 'retro' these days and I've grown to like the look almost as much as the VY, although don't think it's as rare/special as them.

Found this one (http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Holden-Special-Vehicles-GTS-2009/SSE-AD-2398096/?Cr=15&sdmvc=1) tonight, seems like a good car at a pretty good price, just wondered what others thought?

Also, anyone who lives in that area who could recommend a 'pre-purchase inspection' mob to use? I'm in Sydney, figure it's cheaper to have someone go over the car before I go up there to take a look...

Cheers,
John

There are some nice Clubsports around too, this one (http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Holden-Special-Vehicles-Clubsport-2009/SSE-AD-2399060/?Cr=12&sdmvc=1) caught my eye for having the sunroof, being manual, and having a few tweaks...

Interestingly seems like the GTS's aren't holding a big premium over the Clubsports of this age? I guess the MRC becomes a liability (expensive to fix?) as they get older? GTS has much nicer seats though....

Don't think I'd pay anything like $44k for it, seems like you could pick up a base VF Clubsport for high 50's if you haggle, and I'd rather do that...

looks good, i can add that the mrc stuff is expensive to replace so have a good look at them...

They do look good in white don't they. Both look really clean but go the manual. (personal preference only:D )

Out of those two cars, I'd go the clubsport, I think it will be a nice fast car to drive, as long as they didn't go to crazy with cam specs.
In saying this, if you're not in a rush, WAIT! Keep looking for a VY GTS, if that's the car you really want, keep looking, you will find one. You haven't said what you want the car for ( weekend toy or daily driver?) Remember any E series car is still going to depreciate, a Y series GTS, probably not, or not as much. In saying this I believe the E series would be better as a daily driver, so if that is what you're after... Go with your heart. Good luck

Yeah good call guys, you're right. Only a weekender, not daily drive. Might be nice to have some of the extras that are in the VE, but you are spot on, I would still see a VY one day and wish I waited and got it.

This is just my opinion and I hope I don't offend anyone. Keep in mind I own a E series Clubby. But I think the VY GTS is more 'special' then either an E series club sport or GTS, yeah the C4B motor had a few issues, but it's the HSV of its era. This and I have a soft spot for the 300kw cars, I hope to put one in the shed myself one day, I'm not fussed on model, VT2-VY as long as it's got the C4B motor. Good luck
