I remember these .. I think everyone in Australia at the time entered the competition to win them. I know I did ...

I suggest that the owner will be keeping it for a very long time.
Cheers, Pickles.

Besides being one of two thrown away in a competition, is there anything special (performance wise) about this car besides being one of two thrown away in a competition?

No just a stock standard VN SS GRP A and all that offers plus only one of 2 official Black versions. Very exclusive, collectable, and expensive. The 2 were numbered #123 and #161. Started out in Durif Red but painted in a Metallic Black paint. Not sure which number this is, although have made an enquiry ...

Now the Alpine White ones would be the ones to have if either still exists

Mmm what sort of restoring was required for a car that has 36,000km?

This would be number 123, the 1000V8 car. It had a big dollar engine built back in the 90s, lowered and had a drop tank. The restoration would be putting it back to original as given away.

The white one is white once again. I have a photo of it when it was durif red when it was a promo car in 1997.

It's not often I agree with you Martin, but this is one of those times I do.

They weren't official white ones in the sense you are thinking. White was for pilot build cars so no build tag.
This is one area i like about the tickford GT, the pilot cars had a P for pilot build on the build plate and tag inside the cabin. So P01 to P10 came before the first production car.

I've been fortunate enough to see both black ones and the white one up close.
The chap who owns #161 also owns the white test car. They look extremely nice sitting next to each other!

ah ha, that makes more sence. i thought they usually crushed the pilot cars, how did the GP A miss the chop? Any pics of them together SoulJet?

I do but I won't put them up as the owner is private and very security conscious about the cars so I have to respect that sorry.
I will be talking again with him later in the year so I'll ask him then if he'd mind though.
