So I find myself not wanting to drive my Wrangler on road much, given I went nuts jacking it up and fitting bigger tyres, and need to cart the fam's push bikes around.

So it's either whack a tow bar on the wife's car, or mine. Given I also tow a boat, I figure the whale's gonna get the 'bar.

So who's got a hitch style bar, and what's it done to your rear bumper (in terms of cut out)? Got pics?

Thanks!

For the earlier Grange they make a tow bar that comes from under the rear skirt. Twice the price of a "normal" bar but no cutting. Did inquire quite a while back but we bought a ute as a back-up vehicle.

The back end of the WK and the WM don't appear to look very different; check with the dealer about the part. When I asked, the bar was about $780 (I think), vice $400 for a standard bar - fitting extra of course.

cant help with the hitch type not sure i guess they have a bar lever next to the tow bar.
i have had two WMs, they DONT have cut out marks and are not easy to fit, the grey lower bumper
looks like thick fibre gl***, in melb they had to sand and paint after the cut although it was
about 3mm gap both sides, my 12 model about 6mm gap, i worked on about $650 for the 1600kg fitted
that gives the GMH workshop profit without paying the garbage price they stat on-line.
with wires in place it should be about 90minutes work but may take three hours of mucking around
cheers andrew if you want a photo let me know but its not a hitch? its a large box type.

this is one already on photo bucket that shows the HR towbar.
have a good look at how the bumber sits around the rear light panel and against the
rear panel if its not done well you may end up with a few mm of sage and the long
alignments will look sus.
once a bumber has been removed i doubt you would ever get a perfect fit even with new
plastic clips although they heaps some. cheers andrew
