From memory they were around the 100k mark new but after a few months new ones were available in the high 80k range. They didn't sell all that well.

There is nothing special under the bonnet unless you optioned the supercharger, which this one didn't.

Sad thing is there are still quite a few sitting at dealers with demo km's that were never sold...

Demo's or cars not selling is industry wide though, it's not just an HDT thing.
Problem is, you'd have to be a diehard HDT fanatic to really part with that kind of money when there are a lot of alternative performance cars to be had in that price range (both new and secondhand).

I've been stuck in that position since 2007 when I looked to upgrade my VZ SS ute. There were 2 cars I was interested in, a GTS and Senator. Walked out with neither. That handbrake handle ruined it for me inside and that Bull Ant look the VE GTS has side on (the front end looks like a big boofy head then its skinny in the middle).

I think HDT were a Brock thing. The brand was made successful through their association and the passion of Peter and everything they have made since has just been a feeble attempt to bring back the glory days. Nothing will ever live up to those times or cars.

HDT was before Brock, he just acquired it later and built it up to what we all know. After Brock it really just became a shell, nothing more than a parts supplier at a premium price. I wouldn't call today's effort a feeble attempt. If PB was still around I think he'd be in the thick of it. I believe what champion has done is built what HDT should have always been, the only thing I wonder is, where to from here? What is the plan after retro HDT?

If that's in regards to sales, HSV are selling less than usual too. They say they're in the black but mostly because of previous years sales. Unfortunate but that's how it is. Job security and a looming recession are the main factors I'm assuming

As I said, even though it was around before the association with PB, it was him that made the brand what it was. There were plenty of feeble attempts by the previous owners to sell cars ie; aero, magnum and sport.
PC has done a clever bit of marketing to bring them back into the public eye. In the end all he has really done is copy bodykits, wheels and colours of the iconic models. I doubt there is any other good ideas coming out of HDT.
